When tissue becomes tight, overloaded, or restricted, it stops moving the way it should. One of two types of ‘shockwave’ therapies, EPAT, is used to address shallow soft tissue areas to effectively break up scar tissue and adhesions that may be causing discomfort or limiting range of motion.

This non-invasive regeneration therapy increases cell wall permeability and stimulates microcirculation within affected areas, accelerating the healing process. taken in Norwalk, Connecticut by @drbriannathanson

Training is only half the equation. Recovery is where adaptation happens.

Whether you’re competing, lifting, running, or simply staying active, taking care of your tissue allows you to perform consistently — not just occasionally.

Train hard, recover smarter. taken in Norwalk, Connecticut by @drbriannathanson

An MRI is a tool, it isn’t a diagnosis.

Some people have significant findings on imaging with no pain at all. Others have completely normal imaging and still struggle every day. That’s why imaging is only one piece of the puzzle. A thorough evaluation often tells us far more than a scan alone.

In many cases, we can determine whether imaging is necessary, and if it is, we can help ensure you’re getting it for the right reasons. Give me a call or book your consultation using the link in my bio. taken in Norwalk, Connecticut by @drbriannathanson

One of the most rewarding parts of my career is helping other clinicians improve the way they care for patients.

Speaking at conferences like this isn’t just about teaching technology, it’s about sharing clinical reasoning, treatment strategies, and real-world experience that practitioners can immediately apply in their own practices.

Education has always been one of my greatest passions, and I’m looking forward to continuing to teach clinicians across the country who want to get more out of shockwave therapy and regenerative medicine. by @drbriannathanson

Pain rarely exists in isolation. When one area stops doing its job, another area steps in to compensate. That’s why I don’t just focus on where it hurts.

I evaluate how your entire body is moving, because treating the symptom without addressing the system is often why pain keeps coming back. taken in Norwalk, Connecticut by @drbriannathanson

One of the most common things I hear is: “I’ve been dealing with this for about six months.” And my response is almost always the same: “I wish I had seen you six months ago.”

After an injury, your body immediately begins adapting. If tissue isn’t functioning properly, your movement changes. Those compensations become new habits, and over time they create entirely new problems.

The sooner we begin restoring healthy tissue and normal movement, the easier it is to prevent those compensations from becoming your new normal. Early intervention isn’t about rushing treatment; it’s about giving your body the best opportunity to recover the right way. taken in Norwalk, Connecticut by @drbriannathanson

Congratulations to @gavin_chakar7 on an incredible accomplishment and an exciting next chapter with @sbs_baseball!

Watching Gavin continue to develop as one of the country’s top young pitchers has been a privilege. Success at this level isn’t just about talent — it’s about consistency, preparation, and taking care of your body throughout the season.

Proud to be a small part of your performance team. Looking forward to seeing what’s next. by @drbriannathanson

Pain is often the final chapter, not the beginning of the story. By the time something hurts, your body has usually been compensating for weeks, months, or even years.

The goal isn’t simply to make the pain quieter. It’s to understand why it showed up in the first place.

One question changed this patient’s treatment.

She came in with shoulder pain. Then she mentioned she’d had a kidney removed more than 10 years ago. Suddenly, her symptoms made a lot more sense.

Previous surgeries and old injuries can change the way your body moves for years. That’s why your medical history isn’t just background information, it’s often the roadmap to finding the real problem. taken in Norwalk, Connecticut by @drbriannathanson

Some people teach you techniques, others teach you how to think. Warren Hammer taught me the latter.

Without Warren, I wouldn’t be in practice today. He challenged me to question dogma, stay curious, and never stop learning. Those principles became the foundation of how I evaluate patients, approach treatment, and continue to grow as a clinician.

One of the greatest gifts a mentor can leave behind is a way of thinking that continues long after they’re gone. Thank you, Warren. I’ll continue trying to make you proud. by @drbriannathanson
