Who am I?

I’m Drekkia Writes—the poet, the artist, the creator, and energy curator. I’m a published author, motivational speaker, and teaching artist.

Three years ago, I became a full-time entrepreneur and stopped side hustling my talents.

I’m the founder of Seven of Arts, an educational consulting company that offers arts-integrated programs for youth, helping them build the skills they need to thrive in life. I provide poetry workshops, public speaking training, and guide kids in building REAL businesses.

I’m also the founder of The Melanin Land, a women’s empowerment movement that has brought together women from all walks of life to build their million-dollar circles.

I’m a first-generation college graduate with a degree in Business Administration, Insurance, and Risk Management from the University of Central Arkansas.

I believe that with the right mindset, you can unlock doors you never knew existed, and with the right connections, you can build bridges to places you’ve only dreamed of.

I’m also the youngest elected official on the Little Rock School District School Board and a commissioner on the Arts + Culture Commission.

I am the second oldest of five kids. I’m a Libra ♎️. I love dressing up, talking about business, and encouraging people.

I’m from Southwest Little Rock, AR, a place that has shaped who I am in every way. Growing up there taught me resilience, determination, and the power of community—lessons that I’ve carried with me into everything I do.

So, who am I? I’m Drekkia Writes. ❤️

Video BTS from Aim for Change event! It was so good to connect and be in community with women in honor of domestic violence awareness month and firearm safety. #AimForChange by @drekkia

We just wrapped up the 3rd Annual Aim for Change event, and it was a SUCCESS! 💜✨

A room full of beautiful women coming together to celebrate one another while raising awareness around domestic violence and gun safety. THIS is what community looks like.

And while we’re celebrating women… send this to a woman you’re proud of. 🥹💜 Let her know you see her, you’re rooting for her, and you’re proud of the woman she’s becoming.

We did a thing today! 🥹❤️

Seven of Arts partnered with Tim Campbell, founder of the Big Brother Brunch, to bring his brunch experience right here to the boys at Hamilton Learning Academy - Accelerated Learning Center - LRSD!

Just a room full of good food, good conversation, good men and our boys getting a chance to listen, ask questions, laugh, connect and be poured into‼️
I love creating opportunities for our students to experience something different and meet people they may not normally get a chance to be in the room with.

BIG shoutout to all the men that showed up today to pour into our students. Thank you to the City of Little Rock and the Department of Community Programs for sponsoring the food from Tookie’s Catering! 🙌🏾 And, of course, shoutout to Principal Christy MiChelle & AP Bernard for always being down for the ideas we bring their way. 😂❤️

It really does take a village, and today the village showed up. 💪🏾 by @drekkia

I keep telling people: focus on what you CAN do‼️

Because the more energy you put into what’s possible, the less room you have to sit around worrying about what isn’t.

You may not have all the money, resources, connections, or answers YET but what CAN you do with what you have right now?

Start there.

You’d be surprised how much can change when you stop focusing on what’s missing and start working with what’s already in your hands. ❤️❤️‼️

This mindset changed my life. 💕

Last year we said we wanted to live and be more present‼️❤️ Between both of us chasing big dreams, building our businesses, and trying to stay committed to this fitness journey… it’s been a ride. 😂

So shoutout to my girlfriend, Iesha Green!! ❤️‼️ She planned us the sweetest trip to Cancun 🇲🇽 so we could relax, reset, and just enjoy life before the school year kicks back up.

I love you Iesha Green🩷🥹 Thanks for making sure we made time to live, not just work. by @drekkia

My girl @drekkia worked hard all year. Securing big contracts & making big impact. Everybody see the wins, but don’t understand the behind the scenes work. The late nights, early mornings, uncertainties & sacrifices. I have had the opportunity to witness it all. I decided to take her out the country to celebrate all of her wins. Congratulations to having the audacity to think and do big! This is only the beginning. My daily inspiration 🩵🤍❤️ taken in Cancun, Mexico by @drekkia
