Choosing a surgeon isn’t about flashy titles — it’s about focus, training, and experience. When it comes to your face, specialization matters. Facial plastic surgery requires a deep understanding of facial anatomy, balance, and long-term outcomes. That’s why looking beyond a general label and into a surgeon’s board certification, fellowship training, and years of dedicated facial experience is so important. ✨ The takeaway: confidence comes from knowing your surgeon is highly trained, deeply experienced, and fully focused on facial plastic surgery. 🩺 Dr. Kristina Zakhary MD, MSc, FRCSC 🔹Facial Surgeon: Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgeon with special focus in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery 🔹 Calgary, Alberta, Canada 🔹 (403) 450-3759 #drfacialplastics #facialplasticsurgeon #rhinoplastyexpert #calgarysurgeon #cosmeticsurgery #yyclocal #yycliving #yyc #yycnow #calgarylife #calgary #calgaryalberta #calgaryliving #calgarybuzz #calgarynow #calgarybusiness #calgaryisbeautiful by @drfacialplastics
Not all facelifts look “pulled.” Modern facial rejuvenation is about restoring harmony, not changing who you are. ✨ A Facelift + Deep Neck Lift can: ✔ Define a soft, sculpted jawline ✔ Smooth and tighten the neck ✔ Reduce jowls and lower-face laxity ✔ Create long-lasting, natural results My goal is always the same: keep you looking like you — rested, confident, and refreshed. 📞 Curious whether this combination may be right for you? Someone else’s recovery isn’t a deadline for yours. It’s easy to scroll through post-op updates and wonder why you’re not at the same stage. But those posts don’t tell you everything about that person’s procedure, health or recovery. I want my patients to focus on their own care plan and keep me informed about how they’re doing. You don’t have to guess whether you’re on track, and you’re never bothering us by asking. Save these reminders for your recovery, and reach out to your surgical team if something is unclear or concerning. Individual results and healing timelines vary. 🩺 Dr. Kristina Zakhary MD, MSc, FRCSC 🔹 Facial Surgeon: Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgeon with special focus in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery 🔹 Calgary, Alberta, Canada 🔹 (403) 450-3759 #SurgicalRecovery #PostOpCare #RhinoplastyRecovery #FaceliftRecovery #CalgaryFacialSurgeon facial surgery recovery, post-operative care, rhinoplasty healing, facelift recovery, facial surgeon Calgary, Dr. Kristina Zakhary by @drfacialplastics

“What will recovery actually feel like?” It’s a question I want us to talk about before surgery. Photos can show swelling and bruising, but they don’t tell you much about the day-to-day experience of healing. Here are five things you may notice after a facelift: 1. Your sleep routine feels different. Resting more during the day and adjusting to your recommended sleeping position can make your usual routine feel a little unfamiliar. 2. Your face and neck feel tight. A feeling of tightness can be part of early healing. This is something we follow as swelling settles and your tissues recover. 3. Eating takes a little more patience. Chewing may feel uncomfortable or tiring at first. Follow your surgical team’s advice about food choices during recovery. 4. Your skin feels numb or unfamiliar. Temporary changes in sensation can happen after surgery. Areas of skin may feel less sensitive, even when they look much the same. 5. You need more time than you expected. The first week is only the beginning. Looking ready to return to your routine and being fully healed are different milestones. I want my patients to feel comfortable asking about anything they’re noticing. New, worsening or concerning symptoms deserve a call to your surgical team. Save this for your consultation, and bring your recovery questions with you. Individual experiences and healing timelines vary. 🩺 Dr. Kristina Zakhary MD, MSc, FRCSC 🔹 Facial Surgeon: Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgeon with special focus in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery 🔹 Calgary, Alberta, Canada 🔹 (403) 450-3759 #FaceliftRecovery #Facelift #PostOpCare #FacialRejuvenation #CalgaryFacialSurgeon facelift recovery, what to expect after a facelift, Calgary facelift, facial surgery recovery, Dr. Kristina Zakhary by @drfacialplastics
Something you take every day can be easy to forget to mention at your surgical consultation. I want to know about your prescriptions, vitamins, supplements, nicotine use and alcohol intake. Being open about these details helps us plan your preparation and discuss any changes with the clinician who prescribes your medication. Please don’t stop prescribed medication on your own. Your consultation is also a chance to learn about me. Ask about my experience with your procedure and look at long-term patient results. I want you to understand both the preparation involved and the approach we’re considering. These conversations belong before we book your surgery. Have a question about preparing for facial surgery? Call or DM my office. 🩺 Dr. Kristina Zakhary MD, MSc, FRCSC 🔹 Facial Surgeon: Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgeon with special focus in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery 🔹 Calgary, Alberta, Canada 🔹 (403) 450-3759 #FacialSurgery #SurgeryPreparation #PatientEducation #CalgaryFacialSurgeon #FacialSurgeryConsultation preparing for facial surgery, facial surgery consultation, pre-operative care, facial surgeon Calgary, Dr. Kristina Zakhary by @drfacialplastics
It’s understandable to spend more time thinking about your rhinoplasty result than the recovery that comes before it. But I want my patients to feel prepared for both. Before surgery, take time to understand your post-op plan and how it will fit into your everyday life. Having support at home and room in your schedule to recover can make those instructions easier to follow. You don’t need to have every answer before surgery. You do need to know who to ask when questions come up. My team and I are part of that conversation. Save these four reminders as you prepare, and always follow the instructions provided by your own surgical team. Individual results and healing timelines vary. 🩺 Dr. Kristina Zakhary MD, MSc, FRCSC 🔹 Facial Surgeon: Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgeon with special focus in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery 🔹 Calgary, Alberta, Canada 🔹 (403) 450-3759 #RhinoplastyRecovery #PostOpCare #CalgaryRhinoplasty #Rhinoplasty #CalgaryFacialSurgeon rhinoplasty recovery, preparing for rhinoplasty, post-operative care, rhinoplasty healing, facial surgeon Calgary, Dr. Kristina Zakhary by @drfacialplastics
Preparing for facial surgery starts well before your surgery date. If you’re taking a GLP-1 medication, I want us to have that conversation early. Nutrition and hydration matter for healing, and your medication plan needs to be part of your surgical preparation. We’ll discuss whether a pause before and after surgery is appropriate for you and coordinate with your prescribing clinician. Please don’t stop or change your medication on your own. Considering facial surgery? Call or DM my office so we can discuss your next steps. 🩺 Dr. Kristina Zakhary MD, MSc, FRCSC 🔹 Facial Surgeon: Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgeon with special focus in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery 🔹 Calgary, Alberta, Canada 🔹 (403) 450-3759 #GLP1 #FacialSurgery #CalgaryFacialSurgeon #SurgeryPreparation #SurgicalRecovery GLP-1 and facial surgery, facial surgeon Calgary, preparing for facial surgery, nutrition and surgical recovery, Dr. Kristina Zakhary by @drfacialplastics
Being on a GLP-1 medication doesn’t automatically mean surgery is off the table, but it does mean your pre-op planning matters even more. Before facial surgery, I want to know what medications you’re taking, how your weight has changed, and whether your nutrition and hydration are supporting proper healing. These details can affect recovery just as much as the surgery itself. The safest plan is always individualized, so don’t stop or change a prescribed medication on your own. Bring it up early with your surgeon and prescribing physician so your timing and preparation can be planned appropriately. 🩺 Dr. Kristina Zakhary MD, MSc, FRCSC 🔹 Facial Surgeon: Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgeon with special focus in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery 🔹 Calgary, Alberta, Canada 🔹 (403) 450-3759 #facialsurgery #glp1 #ozempic #surgeryrecovery #calgaryfacialsurgeon GLP-1 medications and surgery, Ozempic before surgery, Mounjaro before surgery, facial surgery preparation, surgical recovery, pre-op nutrition, Calgary facial surgeon by @drfacialplastics
Acne scars aren’t all the same, which means the treatment shouldn’t be either. Redness, pigmentation and true textural scarring each come from something different, so the first step is figuring out what you’re actually treating. That’s also why one product or one laser usually isn’t the answer for everyone. A good treatment plan may combine medical-grade skincare with in-office treatments, depending on your skin, the type of scarring and how deep it is. If you’re not sure where to start, a consultation can help take the guesswork out of it. 🩺 Dr. Kristina Zakhary MD, MSc, FRCSC 🔹 Facial Surgeon: Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgeon with special focus in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery 🔹 Calgary, Alberta, Canada 🔹 (403) 450-3759 #acnescars #acnescartreatment #coolpeel #co2laser #calgaryskincare acne scar treatment Calgary, acne scars, post inflammatory erythema, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, CoolPeel laser Calgary, CO2 laser acne scars, medical grade skincare, acne scar consultation by @drfacialplastics
Sometimes the concern is obvious. The solution usually isn’t. “I look tired.” “My skin looks dull.” “My face feels less balanced.” “What can I actually do at home?” These are all common things I hear in consultation, and each one points to a different conversation. The goal is not to throw every treatment at the problem. It is to understand what is actually causing the concern, then choose the most appropriate option for your face, skin, and lifestyle. That might mean neuromodulators. It might mean laser, filler, or simply upgrading your home skincare. A good plan should feel thoughtful, not overwhelming. 🩺 Dr. Kristina Zakhary MD, MSc, FRCSC 🔹 Facial Surgeon: Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgeon with special focus in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery 🔹 Calgary, Alberta, Canada 🔹 (403) 450-3759 #medicalaesthetics #neuromodulators #coolpeel #dermalfiller #medicalgradeskincare medical aesthetics Calgary, neuromodulators Calgary, CoolPeel laser Calgary, dermal filler Calgary, AlumierMD skincare, facial rejuvenation Calgary by @drfacialplastics
Not every treatment is worth your time, money, or recovery. The ones I recommend most often have one thing in common: they solve a specific problem well. Sometimes that means surgery. Sometimes it means laser. And sometimes the best thing you can do for your face is much less glamorous than anything we offer in clinic. The goal is not to do more. It is to choose the right intervention for the concern, at the right time, with realistic expectations. And yes, I am still working on #5 personally 😅 🩺 Dr. Kristina Zakhary MD, MSc, FRCSC 🔹 Facial Surgeon: Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgeon with special focus in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery 🔹 Calgary, Alberta, Canada 🔹 (403) 450-3759 #rhinoplasty #coolpeel #facelift #blepharoplasty #facialsurgery rhinoplasty Calgary, CoolPeel laser Calgary, facelift and neck lift Calgary, upper eyelid surgery Calgary, facial rejuvenation, natural facial surgery results by @drfacialplastics
