This case proves the point that caries dye must be applied over and over again to achieve your end-point.⁣
⁣
Removing only what needs to be removed, bit by bit, guided by the dye. Pathology driven. ⁣
⁣
The initial application often doesn’t show you half of what’s going on. ⁣
⁣
Note, no photo of a tooth covered in pink dye! ⁣
Save yourself and your patient a photo which serves absolutely no purpose. ⁣

To DME or not to DME?

I see a lot of deep cavities restored with two stage DME then sectional matrices.
But if I can isolate the cavity floor and a sectional fits nicely, why make things complicated?
I love these large TOR VM sectionals. I opt for the thicker ones so they stay steady.
