Losing hair doesn’t always mean you’re going bald. 👀

Shedding around 50–100 hairs a day can be completely normal. What matters more is a noticeable change from your baseline—especially increased shedding, thinning, or a widening part.

Stop wasting money on these skincare products 👇

Flavored or fragranced lip balms — Fragrance and flavorings can irritate the lips or trigger allergic contact dermatitis, sometimes making dryness worse.

Collagen creams — They can moisturize, but topical collagen isn’t going to replace lost collagen deeper in your skin.

Pore strips — Satisfying, but temporary. They remove surface debris without treating the cause of clogged pores.

Facial cleansing brushes — Your hands and a gentle cleanser are usually enough. Too much scrubbing can irritate your skin barrier.

Luxury cleansers — They’re only on your skin briefly before being washed off. This isn’t where I’d splurge.

10-step skincare routines — More isn’t better. Too many products and actives can mean more irritation without better results.

Save your money for sunscreen, retinoids, and targeted treatments that actually address your skin concerns.

Which one are you guilty of buying? 👀 by @drgeria

Unfortunately, some skincare truths aren’t what people want to hear 👀

If you have melasma, tinted mineral sunscreen is a must. The iron oxides that provide the tint help protect against visible light, which can worsen pigmentation. Look for broad-spectrum SPF 30+ and remember to reapply.

Seborrheic dermatitis—aka dandruff—is usually a chronic condition. It can be controlled, but it tends to return. Consistent maintenance is key, even when your scalp is clear.

Botox can be preventative. By reducing repetitive facial movements, it may help prevent expression lines from becoming deeply etched into the skin over time.

Filler results depend heavily on the injector. Product selection matters, but technique, placement, knowledge of facial anatomy and knowing when not to inject matter even more.

IPL can cause burns and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in darker skin tones. Safer alternatives may be available depending on what you’re treating, so see a provider experienced in treating skin of color.

If you use minoxidil for hair loss and have a cat, please be careful. 🐱

Minoxidil can be extremely toxic to cats, even with relatively small exposures.

Exposure can happen if your cat:
• Licks your hair or scalp after application
• Comes into contact with spills or drips
• Licks your hands after you apply it
• Sleeps on a pillowcase with minoxidil residue

If you use topical minoxidil, wash your hands thoroughly after applying it, let it dry completely, clean up any spills immediately, and keep the bottle somewhere your cat absolutely cannot access.

And if you think your cat may have been exposed, contact a veterinarian or animal poison-control service immediately.

Send this to someone who uses minoxidil and has a cat. 🐱 by @drgeria

Thinking about getting a laser? 💥 Here’s what I’d want you to know first:

1️⃣ There’s no “best” laser. The right device depends on what you’re treating.

2️⃣ Pigment, redness, wrinkles and acne scars are different problems and often need different lasers.

3️⃣ Your skin tone matters. Some lasers carry a higher risk of pigmentation changes in darker skin tones.

4️⃣ Downtime ≠ results. A more aggressive treatment isn’t automatically better.

5️⃣ The person operating the laser matters just as much as the device. Settings, technique and patient selection can make a huge difference.

Don’t choose a treatment because a laser is trending. Choose the treatment that matches your skin and your goal.

What laser are you considering? Comment it below 👇 #laser #dermatologist by @drgeria
