I’ve been doing a lot of listening. Once I got over being offended at hearing “it’s all men”, I thought it best to listen a a bit more intently. I’m working my way through the female hurt and rage the way I always try to work through things; with balance and love and words and metaphor and an attempt at grace for the human condition, but goddamn I’m sad and angry. So I wrote this poem. by @drh3

Happy FIFTEEN to the coolest kid I know. It has been an honor to have a front row seat to the Truman show. I love learning from you as much as I love teaching you and it is as nature intended that as I help make you a better man, you in turn make me a better man. I love you. Proud of you. Keep rolling. #forwardmotion #backslash taken in Atlanta, Georgia by @drh3

I want to share something with you all that’s been on my heart. I wanted to make a video about this, but I dropped my phone a week ago and the camera has a crack in it. The message is more important than my face, so:

A few days ago I found out that Daniel Klein — a guy I’ve known for over a decade and one of the genuinely kindest people I’ve ever met — was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Emergency surgery, ICU, now chemo. It’s been a really hard few weeks for him and his family.
Daniel builds guitar amplifiers, out of pure passion for the craft. He’s the genius behind Port City Amplifiers. A few years ago he reached out and asked if I wanted to collaborate on one together, and that became something I use in the studio constantly to this day. But honestly? What I remember most about that whole process wasn’t the amp. It was just how much he cared. Every conversation, he was more interested in how you were doing than talking about himself or his work. That’s just who he is.
His family has already been through so much — Hurricane Helene devastated their home in Asheville, his wife fought her own cancer battle — and they’d just relocated for a fresh start when this diagnosis hit.
There’s a GoFundMe set up to help cover medical expenses. Link is in my bio. If you can give, it would mean a lot. If you can’t, just share it — that matters too. The world needs more people like Daniel in it, and right now his family needs us.

David Ryan Harris plays a beautiful fingerpicking sound sample to demonstrate the Yamaha FS9 R.

Our flagship FS9 concert body acoustic guitar represents the culmination of years of development and harnesses the full power of Yamaha’s craftsmanship and technology.

The solid Adirondack spruce top, solid Indian rosewood back/sides, mahogany neck, ebony fretboard, scalloped Adirondack bracing, and comfortable 25” scale length all combine to maximize the most important elements for singer/songwriters: tone, projection, clarity, and smooth playability.
