It's been 12 years, and I'm still here.
Death tried hard, but I wouldn't let go. Life is too big of an adventure to leave the party early, and I was greedy for more time. Ten days of anguish, but 12 years later, and I'm still here.
I've gone back to school, I've traveled the world, I've run more miles than I can count and climbed higher than most oxygen reaches. I continued the honor to care for the sick and bring wellness to my community. I've challenged my body in ways I never thought possible and am stronger than I ever dreamed. I've raised more money than I'll ever own and advocated for health. I switched careers, I bought a home, and I saw my siblings grow up. I've found myself rich with friends, amazing people who support me in all walks of life, and whom I enjoy deeply. Some who've stayed and some whose footprints linger. I learned that great love isn't always romantic, and the real magic comes from loving myself.
12 years is a long time, but it's not nearly long enough. If it's alright with you, Death, I'm going to stryde on.

I'm never quite sure what to call today, but I'm pretty sure the second most important day after the day I was born is the day I didn't die. by @dricardi3

[LONG POST]
For me, the 126th Boston Marathon was EPIC. As some of you know, I've been chasing this particular unicorn since 2019 🦄 I had one hell of a redemption run! Marathon Monday is my favorite day of the year and it.is.back! To say the day was spectacular is to say the least...

My teammates and @activerecoveryboston gave me motivation all season, @wimboston kept this body healthy and moving, and my coach @race_with_rach gave me a plan with the confidence to do this fucking thing all the way to the finish!! So many of my favorite people were along the course to give me energy to carry me through the day ♥️ ALL THE CREWS ♥️ @heartbreak.run @pioneersrc @trailblazhersrunco @strideforstride_ @mystryde, your VIBRANCY was unparalleled and is why I love this running city

I felt strong AF! All of that, and that beer after Mile 20, translated into a 13 minute PR, crossing the Oprah line - something I didn't give myself enough credit to do! I love all my Boston Marathon experiences but 2022's runner's high is the best yet!

Thank you @race_with_rach for continuing to work with me knowing I'd finally put the work in!! 💙💛 For listening to my concerns, and my aspirations and turned it into something I could believe in myself! I cannot wait to see where we take this thing in Berlin 🇩🇪 @mystryde_train I'm just getting started now!!

400 MyStryde classes making this body strong and powerful so I can be the main female character of my fantasy - not his. Fitting timing for this accomplishment. I'm proud to be a woman in sport in a community that values strength over sexy. Thanks to @mystryde for creating a safe, welcoming space that makes me keep coming back to build muscle, mental and physical endurance, grit, fitness and confidence. Not to mention helping me run a few (okay maybe a dozen) marathons.

Now to get to 500 classes and I might officially be Valkryie.

It's been 12 years since I joined the American Liver Foundation for my very first marathon, the 2015 Boston Marathon (ALF). They say one run can change your life, well one team can change your soul. 🧡💜 My liver lovers are family. Liver disease has affected my friends, my teammates, their loved ones. Over the years, their stories became part of my why.

I was slated to run the 2025 Tokyo Marathon, but had to drop out of both Tokyo and the London Marathon due to injury. After finishing my 5th star in London this year I am delighted to announce I'm chasing that 6th star (and 15th Marathon) with ALF in Tokyo 2027!

This run will be deeply special because, without a doubt, I knew I wanted to run for the father of one of my liver lovers. @honor.simon7 lost her Dad 2.5 years ago at the age of only 66. I want to keep his memory alive for my friend, and her family, by dedicating my Tokyo Marathon to Stephen Bowman. They are my why. I'll be channeling his spirit, Honor's energy, a little bit of the Beatles (and maybe some direwolves) with ever step along the way. 💚💙
