🚲 Bike the Barns 2026 was a huge success! Big thanks to @fairsharecsa for putting on this uniquely awesome event year after year, and a special round of applause to our cyclists Bjorn Hauge and Steffen Mirsky for repping us on the ride.

🥕 It’s all for a great cause. Funds raised benefit Partner Shares so that community members can receive assistance buying into CSA shares from local farms. Talk about a win-win scenario! Fresh food access AND money going back into supporting local agriculture. This year they raised a record $55k– incredible.

Garlic is a simple and effective way to implement succession planting, especially for new gardeners.

Planted in late fall (I like to plant mine around Halloween here in zone 4), it takes about 9 months until harvest. In mid- to late July, the garlic is harvested and you can plant a fall succession of cabbage, bok choy, broccoli, or maybe some fall peas, lettuce, cilantro, beans, or one last hurrah of carrots. Lots of options for planting with about 10 weeks before first fall frost.

🍠 For the first time we are selling certified organic, rooted sweet potato slips. These are ready to plant right into your garden when you receive them. Normally $18 for 10 slips, $32 for 20, and $65 for 50 slips, we are offering an automatic 15% OFF this week only!

🪏 It’s not too late to plant sweet potato slips! You can plant slips 12–18 inches apart in rows 3–4 feet apart. Water regularly during establishment, then provide consistent moisture throughout the growing season. Harvest before the first fall frost, generally 90–100 days after planting. Note that sweet potatoes have long, spreading vines.

🌱 A single slip typically produces 5+ tubers (sweet potatoes). While a few of these will usually grow to be large, baking-sized tubers, the rest will generally size up as medium or smaller potatoes.
