Thank you to everyone who came out yesterday for the first screening of Like Lockdown Never Happened - the documentary. Superbly hosted by the @_isrf_ and @blocqmul, we took time to reflect on a life changing event that we all shared, but experienced in different ways. We had some wonderful insights on the making of the film from @amosmukombero as well as an amazing discussion with panel members @miss_toppin_ , @zakarriyahkhalil7 , and @marv____ell. Here is a snippet from the film. by @drjoywhite

Who can create? Where can creativity happen? How is it sustained when gentrification, austerity and cost of living threaten the same places where creative and cultural foundations were built?

Join me for an evening of learning and connection as we explore these questions, using Newham as a case study to look at the emergence of grime, alongside some archive materials to review📚✨

A random encounter where art meets life. Today, I came across a music video being filmed in the neighbourhood. With my Sociologist hat on I pay attention and take a terrible photo. On closer inspection it's @snizzy_gaza. If you heard me talk about #Terraformed in the last few years, you would have heard me mention Better Place by Baseman and Snizzy. I also wrote about one of his tracks for #Riffs @popmusicjournal. A pleasure to finally meet him in person.

My first crop of tomatoes! Back in May I bought four tomato plants for my daughter from @fgcommgarden (see second photo). She didn't collect them but she sent instructions😁. Seems to have worked! This is the fruit from the first plant.

On Friday, I donated some of my mum's wool to the @thecraftedcorneruk. She would be pleased to know that it had been put to good use. by @drjoywhite

I wrote Terraformed six years ago, and it's lovely to see that it is still being read. For a number of reasons, this book is very close to my heart. Last month, I was honoured to be invited to speak about it @harriswestminstersixthform, and now these kind words from ##drjennythatcher.

I'm working on something else now - almost a memoir, but not quite. So if you get a random request from me about a musical memory or experience, that's why.

I'll keep you posted...
