Last year, when Elisabeth was still a white belt, I told her: “I have a plan for you.” That plan was to put her on the podium at the @ibjjf World Master Jiu-jitsu Championship.

For over a year, we worked toward this goal every single week. Elisabeth is a doctor, a wife, a mother of three,and a dedicated martial artist, but nothing can fully prepare you for the pressure of competing on one of the biggest stages in jiu-jitsu.

She was nervous .I remember my firts worlds i was shaking 😂but yesterday we was able to control it together team work

With less than one year as a blue belt, she stepped onto that stage and earned a bronze medal in the Master 3 Super-Heavy division.

After the podium, every other medalist was promoted to purple belt. Elisabeth is the only one remaining at blue because she hasn’t even completed one year at this rank. That confirmed what I already believed: she belonged there, and she truly had the ability to win it all.

This bronze medal is not the end of the plan. It is proof that the plan is working.

I couldn’t be prouder of you, Elisabeth. Next year, we go for gold. 🥉🌎

World Masters 2026.

So much to reflect on. The competition mat is a ruthless teacher… dishing out lessons in focus, resiliency, dedication, humility and patience all at once.

Bowing into competition for the first time in my @unitonesc Gi… deeply grateful and proud to represent my awesome team at Unit One.

Grateful to have a packed bracket of 11 inspiring women from all over the world. Grateful to feel powerful in my movement … entering completion with a strong mind, body and heart is such a blessing at 44 years young. Grateful to have an incredible Professor @ifabiotrindade who holds me to a path of becoming everything I am capable of.

Reflecting on my time at @grapplers_retreat. Deeply grateful for the chance to learn from the ever inspiring @rogergracie … train with some truly phenomenal new friends, enjoy the gorgeous Mendocino coast, reflect on my martial arts journey, eat incredible food and set intentions for the year ahead.

CompNet San Diego! What an honor and a privilege to be able to compete today.

No women competitors in Masters Blue, so choose to fight in the Adults Blue Division. These women were fierce, strong and inspiring.

Ultimately emerged as Adult Blue Super Heavy Champion!

Deeply grateful for the support and guidance of my Professor, @ifabiotrindade … my awesome home gym @gbstudiocity and Professor @rodrigo_ttt.

And extra thankful for Sensei Philippe @hollywoodjudodojo and Master Lewis @sctctkd for believing in me and giving me that extra nudge to be just brave enough to bow into the adults division today!

Grateful for all the ways my martial arts practice helps me grow on and off the mats.

The thing I love more about being a martial artist is the people…

You come home from a tournament empty handed: they lift you up in the most beautiful way.

You find yourself at the top of the podium: their voices are full of shared joy and pride.

You go to a tournament and end up uncontested and don’t get to fight: your DMs are full of encouragement and hope.

They say the hardest belt to get is a white belt… I think the hardest part of competition is just being brave enough to sign up.

Taking home these medals not as a symbol of what I did in the ring (I didn’t get to fight!) but as a symbol of all the hard work I did to be fight ready, and for being just brave enough (and crazy enough) to throw my name into open class and face whatever comes my way.

This week was not my time to fight, but in the meanwhile I’ll stay ready. And most of all stay eternally grateful for my martial arts family that makes the whole adventure so wonderful no matter what happens! by @drkehawk

Golden State Open 2026. 🥋

A tournament I have looked forward to all year. One my heart was deeply emotionally invested in.

Over the course of the last year I have averaged 20 hours on the mats every week- between Judo lessons at @hollywoodjudodojo, BJJ training and coaching at @gbstudiocity, taekwondo at @sctctkd and Kenpo at @zultimatekempo … I have poured my blood, sweat and tears into getting stronger, faster, more focused and more ready for what may come.

As registration for this tournament closed I looked in disbelief. All of my possible brackets were uncontested.

Of the nearly 1400 competitors only 7 women were over 30, and only 3 (THREE) were over 40. And of all the women registered that bowed in today, none in my weight class.

Judo is a sport that can and should belong to all women, at every season of our lives and at every size of our bodies. Not only does it condition the aging body and heart to be stronger, it also sharpens the mind and strengthens the spirit in the most beautiful of ways.

I am grateful to train with Sensei Philippe Morotti at @hollywoodjudodojo - a place that encourages all ages, all types of bodies, and a wonderful diversity of people to come together and train - bonded by the true spirit of judo.

Grateful to have @eatdotschaseghosts as a Judo training partner, a phenomenal supporter of women in martial arts. And thankful for all the awesome judokas at Hollywood Judo that never make me feel too old, or too heavy, or too much like a girl, to belong on the mat.

@gso_judo - thank you for the compassion, kindness, encouragement and empowerment that you have given to me and to all Judokas brave enough to step on the mat.

If you take nothing more from my thoughts- please take a moment to ponder this…

Happy Mother’s Day to all… to all women who bring their fierce feminine energy to life every single day. While traveling my own motherhood journey I’ve often grappled with my own sense of what it means to be a woman.

I may not be delicate… but I am unapologetically feminine. I love my boys fiercely, with every ounce of my being. Watching my three awesome sons blossom into strong young men, all black belts, with a deep sense of honor and respect for women, has been my greatest joy…. I am forever grateful for them.
