Transparent moment…

I wasn’t going to walk in yesterday’s graduation because I “finished” last May. I didn’t see the point in participating. I didn’t want to go through the rigamarole of what I thought would be just another day.

When I thought about what that day would represent for my family, I couldn’t avoid it. I knew I had to show up and show out.

My parents and my wife pushed me when I didn’t know how I would move forward. I wanted to quit several times. I could have used many excuses to drop out (a global pandemic, becoming my mom’s caretaker when she had cancer, having a child, and adopting another), but they made sure I stayed the course.

I owed this moment to all those that came before me and dreamed of such an accomplishment.

I owed it to my past self who cried on that warm spring day in 2019 when I found out I was accepted into the program.

I owed it to my future self to have something to look back on when times are hard.

I’m grateful for that moment and the memories that come with it. taken in Temple University by @drkyletheconductor

The ECO Center in West Philly has been the heartbeat of our community igniting and inspiring Our People and providing a space to eat, earn, learn, laugh, and play.

Over the past year, we’ve: ✨ Connected 1,000+ learners (from kindergarten to corporate!) to #Edutainment programming

🍎 Fed hundreds of families

💰 Employed 83 young people, setting them up for success

🎤 Hosted over 30 arts and culture experiences for ol heads AND Young BULs

💡 Sponsored two incredible organizations, The PLUG 501c3 & The Philadelphia Reparations Task Force, helping secure over $180,000 in funding

We did all this with $104,000 less than last year due to shifting funding priorities. With 2025 funding uncertain, we need YOU to help us keep the momentum going!

🎯 Your challenge: Support us this Giving Tuesday by donating and sharing this video with someone who can make a difference.

Drop a 👑 in the comments if you’re with us—because if everyone does a little, no one has to do a lot.

Let’s keep building brighter futures.

DON’T EAT THE STUDENTS 🎓📚

@drkyletheconductor and his team @theecofoundation @vizionarycustoms @calm_odyssey are doing work that I truly believe is needed in schools across the country. This was at @masteryhighschool in Camden, New Jersey.

We put so much emphasis on producing the next doctors, lawyers and professionals that sometimes we overlook the people helping shape them every single day: our teachers.

When we pour into educators, they pour into students. When students feel supported, understood and inspired, that impact reaches families and ultimately the entire community.

Programs like Don’t Eat the Students give educators tools to navigate challenging situations, better connect with students and keep the love of education alive.

This one is personal for me too. When we first started working together, he was Kyle. Now I get to call this brother Dr. Kyle. Watching his elevation and the growth of his team has been powerful.
Honored to work alongside you, brother. Keep pushing. Keep educating. Keep elevating. The work matters. 💯

#DontEatTheStudents is a transformative learning experience for educators!

We start with a workshop designed to help teachers expand their #WindowOfTolerance, and explore healthy coping mechanisms.

Then we take it to the gym, so they can let out their inner child. We believe if we’re better to the kid inside of us, then we’ll be better to the kids around us.

We’re grateful to Principal Towns for allowing us to serve his teachers. by @drkyletheconductor

@TheECOFoundation opened our community space #TheECOcenter 6 years ago today!

We have provided over a quarter million pounds of food to thousands of people with the help of hundreds of young people that were paid via the Young BUL (Bold Unstoppable Leaders) Program.

We have housed 21 young adults, and successfully transitioned 18 of them to independent living in stable housing.

Unfortunately, our 5 year mortgage is up this November, and we’re not in the financial position to keep our doors open. We no longer have the business credit score, previous year’s financials, or the guarantors we need to renew our mortgage. Like many nonprofits we have felt the impact of the changing political landscape and the shift of priorities from our funders.

We WILL be continuing our commUnity programming working with other West/Southwest Philly spaces, but will have to sell our building. A lot has changed over the years but our commitment to serving Our People has not.

We still believe in the power of the people, and know there’s no nation like a donation. If you would like to help us as we transition please make a contribution by visiting SupportECO.org, or one of the platforms below.

Meet Dr. Kyle Morris—Black Men Heal facilitator, former client, and a powerful example of what healing can look like.

Kyle’s connection to this work is deeply personal. In this feature, he shares his own journey and how therapy helped save his life, and how he’s turned that healing into purpose.

From facilitating our Gun Violence Group Therapy sessions to leading panel discussions, workshops, and some of our live men’s events, Kyle continues to create spaces where Black men can connect, be vulnerable, and heal together.

His story is part of our upcoming documentary with award-winning filmmaker Kaloni Davis, highlighting the real stories and healing journeys of Black men.

Healing can change a life. And a healed man can help heal a community. 🖤

As part of our Beyond the Game: One Yard Closer to Healing campaign, we’re on a mission to raise $150,000 to provide free therapy and mental health services for men of color.

During our recent media day, Dr. Kyle Morris led a powerful roundtable discussion featuring former NFL players alongside members of the Black Men Heal family—men committed to prioritizing their healing and using their stories to inspire others.

Together, they explored topics unique to the Black male experience, sharing laughter, tears, vulnerability, and hard-earned wisdom. While each man’s journey is different, one truth remained clear: our shared humanity has the power to connect us.

This unforgettable conversation will be featured in our upcoming documentary, produced and creatively curated by award-winning filmmaker Kaloni Davis, whose vision is helping bring these powerful stories of healing to life.

Be sure to visit the link in our bio to learn more about the campaign, support our mission, and help us bring free therapy and mental health services to more men of color.

What if 100 Black Men had FREE mental health services by a clinician of color? How could those healed men, heal men?

@BlackMenHeal launches the “Beyond the Game: One Yard Closer to Healing” Campaign to see how that impact ripples across Our Community.

With your support we can reduce the stigma around therapy while increasing access to qualified culturally competent clinicians of color.
