That was so fun!!!! @brasforgirlsorg just presented at the @sportsinschools @kcplayequity girls sports leadership summit on @uofwa campus - we ran through the curriculum and fit and distributed sports bras to the 75 attendees. An incredible week with my sister @musicalkittymama in Banff, Jasper, and Glacier National Parks in 🇨🇦 We hiked 6 days in a row! I gained so much confidence in what my body can do, and we were educated and fed by our amazing @muchbetteradventures guides. Highly recommend their trips!!! (I’ve already bookmarked a dozen). Bonus 🦊🐻🐐 great wildlife sightings and of course getting in nature’s ice bath as much as possible. Can’t wait for my next adventure. by @drlesko

Parents- did you know that an ill-fitting bra can be a hidden barrier keeping girls from participating in sports?
During adolescence, up to 85% of young athletes wear the wrong size sports bra. Many girls without access to proper support experience pain, chafing, and embarrassment causing them to drop out of physical activities.

Evidence shows that sports are a proven incubator for female leadership and confidence and that sports participation in adolescence is an important bone builder.
⚽️Confidence: Girls who play sports report significantly higher self-esteem and a more positive body image.
🏀Future Leaders: Research shows that a vast majority of female corporate executives played sports in their youth. Sports participation teaches resilience and teamwork.
🤸🏾‍♀️Lifelong Bone Health: The teenage years are the prime window to accrue peak bone mass. (90% is obtained by end of adolescence). High-impact, weight-bearing exercise builds bone density. Higher peak bone density protects against osteoporosis later in life.
A poorly fitted bra keeps girls out of sports and impacts health, confidence, and future potential.
I met the team behind @brasforgirlsorg at the Female Athlete Conference last year and love their work. This year alone they provided over 26,000 sports bras to girls. This incredible nonprofit donates high-quality sports bras and delivers crucial body development education to girls, ensuring young athletes are not forced to quit due to a lack of access to proper fitting bras- helping girls stay in the game, build strong bones and confidence!

It started in 2023 with an energizing conversation between Bras for Girls and Amy Swanson at Bellevue College - and three years later we are here! Please welcome our new, free SPORTS BRA FIT curriculum! We are thrilled to launch this product: (did I say FREE) downloadable curricula in 9 different versions (20 and 40 min slide/ facilitator guide versions for elementary, middle, and hs, and 20 min “push to play” videos for the 3 age groups), for teachers, coaches, and community leaders. It’s all right on the @brasforgirlsorg website! None of this could have happened without all of our collaborators and expert partners: @reebs.reebs @bwhozkc35 @shape_wa and Teri Garrett, Amy Swanson and Tamara Boynton Howard of @bellevuecollege @dreambig_davies , @jessica.russell.morrow , @ma.ddyylee , @meriskw . Last night, @brasforgirlsorg received the Equity and Inclusion Award at the 91st Sports Star of the Year event, from @seattlesportscommission and @kcplayequity - which includes a $5,000 grant from @bankofamerica . We were incredibly honored to share our work and mission with this amazing sports community. Thank you to everyone working alongside us to make the power of sports available to every young person. As @jessica.russell.morrow shared with our team, “I’ve heard several of you say your role feels ‘small,’ but I want to push back on that. Bras for Girls exists and continues to grow because people like you show up in your communities and say yes to this mission — whether that’s creating opportunities for impact, lifting up young girls’ confidence, opening doors, or simply sharing the story. I love being a part of this great community supporting girls in sport. @brasforgirlsorg partnered with @athletesforhope CHAMPS program - with support from @gainbridgesport - to work with more than 150 LA girls in 3rd-5th grade at Gates Elementary and 4th-11th grade at Hollywood Boys and Girls Club. We learned about courage, honesty, accountability, mindfulness, positivity, and strength from @kendi_kendall and @chelly_bean24 and fitted every girl with a sports bra. Mentorship matters! ❤️❤️💪💪 Ended the day filled with hope - the girls were amazing. by @drlesko

Another amazing year (our 3rd year!) of @brasforgirlsorg being an official charity partner of @nycmarathon @nyrr 🙌 We are so thankful - these awesome women have already raised over $60k for Bras for Girls. That pays for ALL of our warehouse fees for an entire year and a good chunk of shipping costs. Which means more girls receive necessary sports bras. Thanks to everyone who supported these runners and helped with our NYC distribution programs.
