A little moment of gratitude ❤️

Looking back at this photo from RSVP, I’m reminded of just how many wonderful conversations and opportunities there have been over the past while.

From interviews and conversations around women’s health, endometriosis, equality and empowerment, to the messages I’ve received afterwards I feel incredibly grateful to have a platform to speak about the issues that matter.

I’ve been so touched by the feedback following some of my recent interviews. The messages from women who have felt seen, heard, encouraged or simply a little less alone because of something we’ve discussed mean more to me than I can put into words.

And to all of my new followers a very warm welcome. Thank you for being here, for engaging with what I share, for asking questions and for helping to keep these important conversations going.

Social media can sometimes feel like a very busy place, but behind every message and every comment is a person and I never take for granted the privilege of connecting with so many of you.

There is still so much to talk about and, most importantly, so much work to do.

Thank you for being part of the journey.

The longer I live, the more I Irealize how important it is for every woman to have another woman who sees her magic.

No jealousy or competition.

Just love, support and good vibes.

Like, “I’ve got you, I see you, I’m cheering for you, always & forever.

I can’t but think that we should be marching today about integration of @officialcamogie, LGFA and @officialgaa.

I cannot understand why woman do not stand up for themselves more. ? Do they not realise the are equal?

It is very important that we get integration of all three sports associations as soon as possible.

Women have been wrong to always sit on the sidelines. You have to push for yourself. We teach our children to advocate for themselves.

It will take compromise for all board members to come together and some will have to compromise more than others and will have to be compensated for same. However it is so worth it for gender equality and for the health of generations to come.

It is so important for a healthy society to have gender equality as this allows both sexes to always treat each other with total respect and this leads to a very stable society with no physical, emotional or sexual abuse. The sooner we see this the better.

Thanks to @annagronieckaphotography and @rsvpmagazine1 for the beautiful photo.

MENOPAUSE MYTHS THAT NEED TO GO 💙

Let’s separate fact from fiction when it comes to menopause.

As a Consultant Endocrinologist, I want women to understand that menopause is about so much more than hot flushes and that your symptoms, your experience and your health deserve to be taken seriously. it’s not the same for everyone !

Here are some myths I want us to challenge:

“Menopause is just hot flushes.”
The reality: Menopause can affect sleep, mood, concentration, energy, sexual health and much more.

“You only need to think about menopause in your 50s.”
The reality: Perimenopause can begin years before menopause itself. Knowing what to look out for can help you seek support sooner.

“Everyone experiences menopause the same way.”
The reality: Every woman’s experience is different. There is no single way to navigate this stage of life.

“You just have to put up with it.”
The reality: You deserve information, support and an informed conversation about the options available to you.

Women deserve to understand their bodies, ask questions and make informed decisions about their health. Education is empowering and you should never feel that you have to suffer in silence.

Now I want to hear from you: What is one thing you wish you had known about menopause or perimenopause sooner?

Share your thoughts in the comments. Let’s keep the conversation going.

GLP-1 medications can be life-changing treatments when prescribed by a doctor, appropriately monitored and used as part of an individualised treatment plan.

There should be no judgement, no shame and no stigma. 💙

We are fortunate to live in a time when we have more treatment options available to help patients manage complex conditions and improve their health and quality of life.

It was wonderful to see this patient doing so well today, having struggled with severe PMOS and insulin resistance.

Every patient’s journey is different, and treatment should always be guided by individual needs, medical evidence and the support of a healthcare professional.

Let’s replace judgement with understanding, stigma with education, and criticism with compassion. 💙

It was wonderful to join @oonaghohag from @meagherspharmacy and give a lecture on hormone health in Mathesons in the lead up to World Menopause Day
We spoke about everything to do with Hormone Health including perimenopause and menopause.

Well done to Rebecca Ryan of Mathesons for organising it

Oonagh demonstrated how to use all the different HRT preparations as well as taking all about magnesium, vitamin D , gut microbiome and how to choose the best supplements and know what to check for on the back of the packs

Great to see all the questions afterwards
It means everyone was interested and listening

Knowledge is power

Can’t wait for the conference Sunday

Great to meet @garmullins @anantarathemarkerdublin before the lecture where we enjoyed a beautiful healthy breakfast

This photo is not perfect, not instagram worthy they say, yet it won’t stop me posting because to me it captures the passion that I have when having these conversations.

Thank you for all of your messages after today’s interview.
Never underestimate the power of pure intentions and a beautiful heart. Continue to lead with kindness, stay true to who you are, and trust that the good you put out into the world has a way of finding its way back to you.

This is exactly why I am so passionate about educating you all because knowledge empowers us to understand ourselves better, make informed choices, and live healthier, happier lives.

I cannot wait to see you all this Sunday at EmpowerHer. A day of knowledge, connection, inspiration and, most importantly, putting you at the heart of your own wellbeing. ✨

With love,
Mary 💗

I’m delighted to be featured in RTÉ Guide in conversation with the wonderful Claire O’Mahony, discussing perimenopause, menopause and why this stage of life deserves to be seen in a different light.

Menopause is not the end of something, it can be the beginning of a new chapter. A second spring.

While symptoms can undoubtedly be challenging, this is also an opportunity to pause, reflect, prioritise our health and put ourselves first. We spend so much of our lives looking after everyone else; it’s time we gave ourselves that same care and attention.

My sincere thanks to Claire O’Mahony for such a thoughtful conversation and to the RTÉ Guide team for shining a light on women’s health and helping to keep these important conversations going.

Lipoedema is a chronic, long-term medical condition that causes an abnormal, symmetrical build-up of fatty tissue in the lower body and sometimes the arms, while typically sparing the hands and feet.

The lower body (hips, thighs, and calves) looks much larger than the upper body, creating a noticeable size mismatch.

There is no effect on feet/hands: Fat accumulation stops abruptly at the ankles or wrists, sometimes forming a cuff effect.
Affected areas often feel painful, heavy, tender, or ache when touched or pressed.

Let’s keep the conversation going.

Step into your power. And use your voice. 💗

We have been told for so long that being capable means doing it all.

The work. The home. The children. The caring. The organising. The emotional load. The invisible list that never seems to end.

But “I can do it all” should not become a badge of honour if the price is exhaustion.

We don’t need to prove our strength by carrying everything alone.

Sometimes stepping into your power means saying:
“I need your support.”
“This is what I need from you.”
“I can’t carry all of this on my own.”

And that conversation with your partner matters.

Support shouldn’t have to be guessed. Sometimes we need to use our voice clearly and honestly to explain what would make a difference, whether that’s sharing the practical load, creating more time for ourselves, or simply feeling heard.

Being strong doesn’t mean doing everything.

Being strong means knowing what you need, and having the confidence to ask for it.

We shouldn’t be aiming for exhaustion.
We should be aiming for balance, partnership and a life where we have the space to thrive.
