The atrocities in Kansas City Kansas Police Department is easily a scene out of the movie Training Day, and Roger Golupski is comparable to Denzel Washington’s character; only, Kansas isn’t Hollywood. This is real life.

Real Black women have been raped and sex trafficked by the KCK police. Real Black men have been falsely convicted. Real families and communities have been targeted and terrorized by KCKPD.

On Nov. 17th, Abolitionist Sanctuary partnered with Roc Nation, Until Freedom, Faith for Black Lives, and local organizers to rally against police corruption in KCKD.

Here’s the thing, as we rallied in KC, Iranian protestors are facing execution by the police state.

Beloved, abolition is a global project. We are caught in a inextricable web of mutuality. We are connected by the struggle for liberation. Let’s build together.

Join @abolitionistsanctuary in leading a faith-based abolitionist movement.

Happy 19th wedding anniversary, sweetheart!

My husband is amazing. He is a provider. A present partner. He prioritizes his family and my happiness. He truly is the best man I ever met and the first and only man I committed my heart to for eternity.

But can I be honest? Everything that glitters isn’t gold.

Marriages sometimes tarnish. Marriage sometimes loses its spark. Sometimes life wedges itself between you and your spouse - children, job, stress, illness, transitions, financial setbacks, body changes, individual needs…just LIFE!

These are 19 years of choosing each other. And it was work. Work to build a strong foundation. Work to celebrate big and fill our buckets to draw from during challenging moments. Work to support each other’s dreams and encourage one another when those dreams were deferred. Work to push each other to be the best version of ourselves and hold each other accountable. Work to keep our relationship fresh amidst the hustle and bustle of parenting and building careers. Work to grow closer in our union while also cultivating our individual lives.

Marriage isn’t glitter. Its grind. And yet it’s still golden!

Here’s to celebrating REAL LOVE! Black love is revolutionary.

(Oh, and our wedding reception was lit! 🔥🔥🔥😂)

☕ SIP TEA: You’re one of ONE.

You have the oil. You have the vision. And yes… God gave YOU the juice. 🙌🏾

What’s been placed inside of you wasn’t meant for anybody else to duplicate. You are the originator not the imitation!

So stop looking around for confirmation of what God already put inside of you.

Trust the vision. Protect the oil. Walk in your purpose.

Because when God gives you the juice, nobody else can make your flavor. ☕✨

Repair. Restore. Rebuild. 💜

At Abolitionist Sanctuary, these three words guide the transformative work we do:

🟣 We repair harm.
🟣 We restore relationships.
🟣 We rebuild more just and equitable communities.

Because real change takes more than talking about what’s broken. It requires people willing to do the work.

The 3R’s summarize our theory of change and also how we define abolition!

LABOR DAY POST: According to a new IWPR report, 600,000 Black women were pushed out of the workforce.

Anti-DEI, discrimination, and federal job cuts have pushed highly educated Black women out of the workplace even as headlines indicate that unemployment rates fell.

What does abolition mean for Labor Day? Building an economy where Black woken are not one lost job away from criminalization and providing for their families.
