I thought I reintroduce myself, since it’s 2026 and there’s a lot of new followers here.

Hello 👋 The world knows me as “Dronographer” and I’m based in Europe, Austria 🇦🇹 I’m an aerial photographer and videographer, but also take shoots on the ground sometimes. I’ve been doing this since 2016 - that’s 10 years in the business now.

Most people might know me from my collaborations with brands like DJI and Skylum. If I’m not out in the wild, flying my drones, I also might appear as speaker at photo fairs or tutor for drone related topics.

My equipments consists pretty much of any recent drone that DJI offers, though I also own some vintage pieces (Inspire 1!) 🚁 For shooting on the ground I trust my Lumix - a hybrid photo/video camera 📸

My profile here on Instagram is a mix of personal portfolio, tutorials and some entertaining content from time to time - of course all drone, photography and videography related.

If you like what you see feel free to follow. This is the only place where I share exclusive behind the scenes moments in my stories. And if you already follow: glad to have you on board ✌️

Yes, but… if you’re not watching my stories, which often show you the hard reality behind all those beautiful aerial photos and drone videos here, then you’re missing a big part of the picture!

1) Weather: yes you can plan ahead, but there’s days where the weather is simply against you and absolutely nothing can be done about it ☁️

2) Travel: yes it’s just a little trip to the neighboring country, but that little trip can turn into hours of driving, especially if there’s traffic jam 😮‍💨

3) Working hours: yes it’s a beautiful blue hour shot, but man is it hard getting up at those early hours 🥱

4) Dedication: yes it was an absolute dream to do the photo shooting of the key visuals for the DJI Mini 5 Pro, but I broke my collarbone during the job and finished it with one arm 🤕

5) Travel Cost: yes traveling around the world is definitely a nice aspect of being a photographer / videographer, but you gotta have the required pocket money to finance it all 💸

6) Limits of your body: yes it’s wonderful to be outside, to discover new places and witness epic moments like an active volcano, but boy can it be exhausting… so exhausting, that you just take a nap in the middle of nowhere 😴

7) Weather part 2: yes there’s also those days when light, clouds, snow and everything else will create the perfect conditions for a nice shot, but temperatures will be freezing cold, effecting your body and camera gear 🥶

8) No fly zones: yes my work is 90% aerial, but sometimes there’s places where you can’t use a drone, like strict no-fly zones where you can’t get a permit for 🚫

Rolling hills, cypress trees, and vast fields of vineyards that become mist-covered during the sunrise. In between this stunning landscape lie medieval towns like San Gimignano, Pitigliano and many others. This is Tuscany - a photographer’s dream and must see location for all those who like to romanticize their life.

Harmony can exist, even though there’s are stark contrast. That applies not just to photography.

Which of these contrasts is your favorite? And why? Drop it in the comments 😉

Slowly but surely summer is ending once again. I’m glad that I could enjoy most of it so far, with lots of swimming, hiking in the Dolomites or just enjoying sunsets at the park like in this video here 🌤️🌳

While most of you know me for being an aerial filmmaker and photographer, I quite enjoy getting creative on the ground too 😌

This time I filmed with the brand new DJI Osmo Pocket 4P and mostly used the 3x lens, which allowed me to get shots with depth of field 👌

How was your summer so far? Tell me in the comments!

Filming locations for Hollywood blockbusters, erupting volcanos, the castles of mad kings… I’ve seen quite a bit of the European continent on my travel trips. Even did product shootings for international campaigns, for clients like DJI.

Don’t ask me for the locations please, if you know you know. Otherwise I’ll be gate keeping 😌 I don’t want all these places to be rushed by masses of tourists. by @dronographer.eu

I risked my drone’s camera for this shot of the Solar Eclipse 2026 🥵 Just like our human eyes, the sensor of my camera could have been easily grilled - permanently without any hope for repair.

I had a veeeery tight time window for this shot, less than 4min, with hard conditions anyway. Here in Austria the total eclipse (well, ~90%) was exactly at 20:13 - at this time the sun would already be behind the horizon. Not to mention all the mountains that would cover the sun even before that time.

I found a good spot and I used the 4 short little minutes before it happened. Filmed with my DJI Mavic 4 Pro on the 166mm lens.

Drop me a mail for licensing - Link in Bio ✌️

Did you get yourself a brand new DJI Osmo Pocket 4P? Is this your first camera of that kind, or maybe your first video camera at all?

Great! Then here a 3 tips on how to get the most out of it:

1. The Osmo Pocket 4P (just like the Pocket 3 and Pocket 4) can shoot vertically, but only cropped in 3K resolution. To get 4K vertical footage, put the camera in horizontal mode and flip the camera slowly by 90 degrees. This will limit your gimbal movement, but it works great on still shots or portrait shots and gives you more flexibility in post-production.

2. If you want the best out-of-camera footage, just use the normal color profile. However, if you understand color-grading, use D-Log or even D-Log2 for best results. Both profiles give you more options in post-production and also offer a higher dynamic range compared to the normal color profile.

3. The new 3x camera comes with an aperture of f1.8 and a focal length of 60mm. This allows a shallow depth of field and will create nice bokeh effects. But if you manage to get some foreground elements between you and the subject you are filming, it will increase that effect even more.

Follow for more, save this post for later and share with your friend who just got a DJI Osmo Pocket 4P!
