🎙️NEW PODCAST🎙️

Two Colorado natives, five bears on a hillside, and a bear hunt that turned into an absolute adventure. In this episode of Fall Obsession Podcast, Sam is joined by Fall Obsession’s Western Regional Coordinator, @elevationangling, and Colorado hunter @dropping_hammers to recap their unforgettable 2026 Colorado bear hunt.

What started as a last-minute plan with minimal preparation quickly turned into a wild experience filled with steep shale slopes, close encounters, split-second decisions, and a whole lot of adrenaline. When Connor makes a shot on a bear and John heads up the mountain after another, things get a little complicated when they realize they may have both shot the same bear! From figuring out whose bear it was to heading back the next morning for another round, these two share the full story of a hunt neither will soon forget.

Along the way, we talk about Connor’s journey from whitetail hunting in the East to chasing elk and other big game in the mountains, the learning curve of western hunting, the value of trial and error, and why some of the best hunting memories are the ones shared with good friends.

It’s a conversation about adventure, friendship, learning as you go, and making the most of every opportunity in the outdoors. Tune in for the full story!

Decided to max my clean following a fire session from the @wcu_throws squad. This group gave me the most hyped up and excited atmosphere known to man and helped me hit my heaviest clean in over 2 full years… 325lb/147kg taken in Western Colorado University by @dropping_hammers

This year’s archery hunt was one for the books. In September I hunted 12 days, hiked 92 miles, had 45,100ft of elevation change, and 8 days where I was between 15-80yds from elk. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on my side this year and I’ll be eating tag soup for the 9th year in a row. That being said, this year I had plenty of priceless memories, countless experiences that I’ll never forget, and I learned more than I ever have about elk, the mountains, and myself. I have a strong feeling that something special is waiting for me next season…. Until then 🙌🏽 taken in Colorado Backcountry by @dropping_hammers

There’s just something extremely extraordinary about dancing the night away with the one you were meant to marry and everyone you love dearly. Yes, Cierra and I put on the party of the century, but arguably EVERY SINGLE ONE of our wedding guests made the celebration possible. Whether you are featured in this cinematic masterpiece or not, you know who you are, and what you mean to us BOTH. thank you @natesparks for collecting this memory into a work of art of the greatest night of our lives. taken in Gothic, Colorado by @dropping_hammers

@cierra.rohrbaugh and I turned up a good group of bulls this morning… I guess getting out in negative temps has its perks. Some tough ass animals to say the least.
