I’m incredibly honored to announce that I’ve been selected for induction into the 2026 Western Colorado University Mountaineer Sports Hall of Fame.

On October 30, I’ll return to Gunnison to officially take my place in the Hall of Fame — more than 35 years after setting Western’s 110m hurdles record, a record that still stands today.

In 1991, I became the only Mountaineer in Western history to win three individual events at the same RMAC Conference Championship Meet— the long jump, 110m hurdles, and 100m dash. I won the RMAC long jump championship again in 1992 and earned NAIA All-American honors in both the 400m hurdles and long jump in 1991.

That 1991 national championships also made me Western’s final NAIA All-American before the school transitioned to NCAA Division II.

First and foremost, I thank God for His grace, direction, and every opportunity along this journey.

I thank my mother for her love and support through every step of that journey. I thank my daughter, Dominique, who is the light of my life and gives everything I do greater meaning.

I’m grateful to Coach Duane Vandenbusche for recruiting me to Western and giving me the opportunity to become a Mountaineer for my final two years of collegiate eligibility. I also want to recognize Head Men’s Coach and former Athletic Director Scott Groom. In his first year as head coach, I was proud to represent him, my teammates, and Western as the men’s team’s only 1991 All-American.

To my teammates, thank you for the support, competition, friendships, and memories.

And to the Mountaineer Sports Hall of Fame Selection Committee, thank you for this incredible honor.

Western will always be part of who I am.
