My trip to Chile 🇨🇱 was one I’ll never forget.

It was an incredible honor to be invited to speak at the 46th Curso de Avances en Gastroenterología in Santiago, Chile, @schgastro where I had the privilege of delivering three lectures on:
1️⃣ Endoscopic management of the biliary tract in altered anatomy
2️⃣ Management of complications after bariatric surgery
3️⃣ The current state of endobariatric and metabolic endoscopy

What I’ll remember most, though, wasn’t just being on stage; it was the people!

The conversations between sessions, reconnecting with colleagues from around the world, meeting new friends, sharing ideas over long dinners, and seeing the passion for advancing GI care across continents reminded me why I love academic medicine and what I do.

I was also deeply touched by the generosity and warmth of everyone I met. I was welcomed with thoughtful gifts & outstanding hospitality that I’ll always associate with this incredible experience. Those gestures reflected the kindness & generosity of this community.

Pleased to begin my role as Assistant Director of System Integration for Interventional Endoscopy and Assistant Professor of Medicine @cedarssinai

🧠 Therapeutic and metabolic endoscopy are entering a transformative period where the opportunity extends beyond procedural innovation to the thoughtful integration of these therapies across health systems.

☄️Advancing the field now requires building the clinical infrastructure, multidisciplinary pathways, and operational alignment necessary to deliver complex endoscopic care at scale.

💪🏽In this role, my focus will be on supporting cross-site integration of advanced endoscopic services while expanding endobariatric programs and strengthening collaborative care models that broaden patient access to these therapies.

Our study (link: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10620-025-09447-4)
shows that simple, non-drug interventions like music therapy, aromatherapy, and Reiki can significantly reduce patient anxiety during endoscopy and colonoscopy.

💡 Top takeaway:
Music therapy stood out as the most effective—boosting comfort and satisfaction without adding risk or cost.
In a field driven by technology and sedation… this reminds us:
Healing is also human.
