Honestly, I don’t know what makes one day different than any other day around here. 🦉 by @drunkloveheart

1. Hello October.
2. Hello Pokeweed. Don’t eat. If you do eat just a teeny tiny bit, stay near a toilet. Good for dyeing, painting and purging.
3. Autumn Olive Berries. Invasive. Do eat.
4. Golden Rod. Do drink: tea, salve, or tincture. by @drunkloveheart

I miss my mom. And. I am my mom. 1/20/1944 - 8/22/2020 Six years. by @drunkloveheart

On this night there will be no meteor shower in my view, because oh sweet gurgling thunder, because oh sweet and gentle rain, because oh daring roll of cloud, rolling the cloud toward the sky-lightning-god who is showing off again. When I close my eyes maybe all that shooting star stuff will sizzle through the seams and burrow into dreams. This photo is from 17 years ago. I was staying in a very old log cabin with a leaky roof and an outhouse, on the top of a hill somewhere in Southern Vermont. The shower in the outhouse was full of spiders, there was a mountain cat that screamed at night, a pond full of dragonflies, faces in every tree, and real spring beds probably 100 years old. The sky crackled then too and I had an entirely true encounter with fairies, but mostly, I wrapped my leg around that trunk and gave it my love and it gave me its love and I managed to get a self-timed photo of it. Later I would review the photo and decide I looked kind of fat and crop out 3/4 of my body and become only a leg and some bark and that view. What to do — about how we see ourselves before we have gotten to know ourselves. But I do think it was the beginning of something…a kind of love affair with the question. Literally. Figuratively. Mysteriously. Essentially. Naturally. I shouldn’t be writing at 12:45 AM. Okay, goodnight. I hope eclipse season is opening you. And grandiose birthday salutations to all of the Leos! I felt a wee bit of pride making these mini waffles with the mini maker I got for 5 bucks at the thrift. I whipped ‘em up following no recipe but the memories I have of grandpa whistling in the kitchen, orange-juice-squeezing, coffee-dripping, and usually pancakes, but once in a fun while, waffles. The waffle maker of our childhood came from my mother’s childhood. It had a worn cord, an iron griddle, and a large coiled snout. I used to pretend it was an elephant with a bib. We tried to keep the batter from spilling into the bib tray by pressing the flat side of a butter knife against the overflow. That was the only way we were really allowed to participate when Clarence was in the kitchen. He was an old grump of a lump of a man. Tan hide skin, Swedish blonde turned balding grey. He emulated John Wayne and waved his flag loud and proud for Ronald Regan. He didn’t allow the dog inside the house unless there was a thunderstorm, and he didn’t like the sound of noisy children, but he could build a stone fireplace like nobody’s business and he could make the morning whistle and the waffles rise. #justanoldfashioninstagrampost by @drunkloveheart

I see your peace in me in my peace of you. 🕊️ by @drunkloveheart

Everywhere I go, there they are. The ancestors. We have an understanding. It doesn't matter if they are of my direct lineage, the ones who come before are the ones who come before. I imagine them, I thank them, I wonder how their voices once carried between the trees of an unpolluted landscape. I wonder how their hands poured over the rocks that gave them tools and homes. I wonder where their babies were born. I ask permission to pass through their places of worship and sacrifice. I ask to receive their messages if they have any to share. Oftentimes they barely whisper, but sometimes they are exceptionally, and even, obnoxiously, verbose. *Photo of photos taken at Imiloa Astronomy Center Hilo, Hawai’i by @drunkloveheart

It gives fire crackle and ocean spray, shark fin and turtle rock, stand still and be still. It gives what I give, it takes however long it takes…to love and be love. by @drunkloveheart
