Set within the dense urban fabric of Edappally, Kochi, surrounded by mature trees and anchored by an existing pond, the site presented an opportunity to explore architecture as a response to landscape rather than an imposition upon it. . Designed for a couple who are both working professionals, the home reflects a balance between the demands of a contemporary professional lifestyle and a deep appreciation for art and nature. The wife, a passionate Bharatanatyam dancer, envisioned a dedicated dance studio that would serve as a space for practice, expression, and performance while remaining seamlessly connected to the life of the home. . What began as an element of uncertainty for the clients the pond eventually became the project’s defining language. Unsure of its place within the future of the home, they entrusted us completely with the process, giving us the freedom to experiment, question, and discover. . Spaces were choreographed around it, allowing water, reflections, light, and nature to shape the experience of the house.
