Eight months ago today, my dad’s friend Deb helped me to get the police in Everett, MA to perform a wellness check on him, as he hadn’t been answering his phone. He had died in bed, a day or two after our last visit. John Fabian Rand was deeply curious, a great talker, and in the end, a loving & supportive father, who gave me the nickname “Wise Counsel” and invented the holiday, “National Daughter’s Day.” For someone whose first memory was being taken away from his mother by a social worker, and who lost 35 years to a severe gambling addiction, it was remarkable that he healed as much as he did & stepped up to help me with my memoir about our relationship, “Good Girl.” And that he was able to end his days with the dignity of his own version of emotional sobriety, and a roof over his head, thanks to the Section 8 housing program & the good people at the Everett Housing Authority. If you know me, you’re well aware that deep conversation is one of my great loves. This is something I got from my father & I miss our wonderful, wild talks most of all. ❤️ by @duchessofrock

Massive thanks to @storiesbooksandcafe for hosting my friend @kateysagal & I last night & to everyone who came out to give such a warm welcome to my paperback & even give copies a forever home. Like many artists, I am not a natural salesperson, but step right up, my fine feathered friends, have we got a deal for you?!?! 😉 Many have asked how to support me as I rebuild from the fire & purchasing a paperback would do so much. Gift it to your crush. Put it in a little free library. Carry it as a fashion accessory (gorgeous cover, right?!?!) Link to bookshop.org in bio. Thank you & big love! 🩷🧡💛 (photo by @meredithmaran & video by @piperferguson) by @duchessofrock

Hello, my friends! It has been quite a year, to say the least. Walking out of the fire, celebrating my birthday, finishing a draft of my 2nd novel, feeling grateful for the generosity & kindness of my family, friends, writing community & total strangers. And now, it’s time to gather & celebrate the paperback launch of Ramblers & the joy of collaboration. I’ll be in conversation with my friend @kateysagal who I was privileged to edit when she wrote her incredible essay collection “Grace Notes.” We’ll be talking about that process, creativity, & rock ‘n’ roll. Please join us! One week from today: Tuesday, February 25 at 7 pm at the gem @storiesbooksandcafe 🩷🧡💛 by @duchessofrock

Chaucer's Books is hosting actor and author Russ Tamblyn for a book talk and signing of his memoir Dancing on the Edge: A Journey of Living, Loving, and Tumbling Through Hollywood. Tamblyn will be in conversation with his fantastic co-author, Sarah Tomlinson.

Join us! In store. Thursday, February 27 at 6:00 PM.

About the Book:
Perfect for old and new fans alike, Dancing on the Edge is an intimate and powerful story about the singular life of one of our most gifted storytellers, artists, and stars of the silver screen.

With more than eighty years as a celebrated artist and actor under his belt, Russ Tamblyn is a cherished figure to name among cinephiles and pop culture fans alike, working with such legendary directors as Robert Wise, David Lynch, and Quentin Tarantino. He tumbled through his acclaimed starring role in the original West Side Story as an actor and acrobatic dancer, taught Elvis Presley some signature dance moves, and became an unlikely visionary in the counterculture movement of the sixties alongside peers and friends Henry Miller and Dennis Hopper.

Russ deftly guides readers through his star-studded life and his search for a deeper, more connected existence: attending school with Elizabeth Taylor, earning an Academy Award nomination for Peyton Place, dropping out of Hollywood at the height of his career to become a fine artist in Topanga Canyon, and forging a lifelong friendship with Neil Young. He shares the painful breakup of a twenty-year marriage and the joy of finding true love and inspiration as a husband, father, and mentor in his own right. by @duchessofrock
