🐌 One year on, 'Snail on Me' by @dukhee_ is becoming part of the landscape at Haigh Hall.

Created by artist Anne Duk Hee Jordan as part of UP Projects’ 'Bodies of Water' project, the site-specific sculpture harvests and circulates rainwater, channelling it through rain chains into a newly created wildlife pond.

A year after its installation, the planting around the pond has had time to bed in, with ferns, flowers and aquatic plants creating a flourishing new environment around the sculpture.

Rooted in principles of regenerative practice, 'Snail on Me' is designed to support the wider ecosystem of Haigh Woodland Park.

🐛🏨 Alongside the pond and planting, ceramic insect hotels created by local artist Anna FC Smith and Wigan community ambassadors have provided new habitats.

We’re thrilled that 'Snail on Me' has also been nominated for the 2026 PSSA Marsh Award for Excellence in Public Sculpture.

'Snail on Me' invites us to think differently about water, the more-than-human world and how public art can play an active role in supporting the environments we share.

🔗 Find out more about the project and explore related resources via the Bodies of Water digital platform, linked in our bio.

How to Postpone the End of the World
Anne Duk Hee Jordan, Sasha Perera, Daniela Zyman

What you’ll find at Loop Fair 2026

⟡ alexander levy, Berlin, presents Anne Duk Hee Jordan

Ziggy and the Starfish explores our relationship with the natural and built environment, questioning how we consume, sustain and understand the worlds we inhabit. Through the perspective of marine life, the work turns to sexuality as a site of ecological transformation, shaped by the effects of climate change on the hydrosphere. Sea slugs, octopuses and starfish become protagonists in a vibrant and seductive underwater world, where desire, survival and environmental change intertwine, inviting us to reconsider our place within the complex networks of human and non-human life.

Latergram from the deep

Some traces from Life in Extremes – Cold Seeps of Argentina aboard @schmidtocean’s R/V Falkor (too), led by Chief Scientist María Emilia Bravo.

Weeks at sea, travelling south along the Argentine continental margin towards the Malvinas and the Drake Passage. Rough seas, huge waves and many, many dives into the deep.

We went down from the beginning, following the ROV through the water column all the way to the benthic seafloor, sometimes for hours and through the night.

And we met some pretty incredible creatures on the way: a phantom jellyfish floating through the darkness, an almost transparent glass squid at around 1,700 metres, an octopus hiding between corals and sponges, and entire benthic communities living at just a few degrees Celsius and under enormous pressure.

At the same time, the CTD was travelling through the water column, measuring temperature, salinity, oxygen and pressure. Sediment and organisms came back up to the ship and suddenly we were looking at the same ocean at completely different scales, kilometres of water on one screen, microorganisms under the microscope on another.

I think this is what fascinated me most. You are constantly moving between things that are enormous and things you can barely see. Between data and living bodies. Between the surface and a world thousands of metres underneath you.

And while we were looking down there through cameras, sensors and robotic arms, the ocean above was sometimes throwing us around like crazy.

From Environment to Mitwelt
Ein Symposium über öko-soziale Weltgestaltung

Studienschwerpunkt Design, HFBK Hamburg
konzipiert von Friedrich von Borries, Johanna Dehio, Anne Femmer, Jesko Fezer, Anne Duk Hee Jordan.

Mit: Silke van Dyk (Jena), Folke Köbberling (Braunschweig), Atelier LeBalto (Berlin), Loraine Leeson (London), Katja Lonzeck (Hamburg), Sasha Perera (Berlin / London), Tilman Walther (Hamburg), Sabine Zahn (Berlin), Daniela Zyman (Wien)

💥We are delighted to announce that Snail on Me
by Anne Duk Hee Jordan at Haigh Hall, Wigan has been nominated for our 2026 PSSA Marsh Award for Excellence in Public Sculpture.

Snail on Me by Anne Duk Hee Jordan is one of two commissions for the Bodies of Water project, curated and produced by UP Projects. Bodies of Water is an ambitious project in response to the urgent environmental needs within the UK and internationally to manage water more effectively.

Acknowledging that water moves in cycles, passing through humans and other organisms German/Korean artist Anne Duk Hee Jordan has created a site-specific sculptural work that harvest, filters and circulates rainwater whilst following the principles of regenerative and sustainable design. This public artwork explores the politics of water, drawing from the history of each of these locations, specialist knowledge from scientists, researchers and conservation specialists at Exeter University, RSPB and Julie's Bicycle. It is also underpinned by insights of local communities and local artists, engaged through a community collaboration programme in both locations.

The title references Astrida Neimanis’, Canadian cultural historian, 2017 book, Bodies of Water: Posthuman Feminist Phenomenology which focusses on the myriad relationships humans have with water, oceans, and aquatic life; Neimanis considers the body as a vessel of water inviting readers to examine their responsibility in the climate emergency.

The PSSA Marsh Award in partnership with @marshcharitabletrust celebrates outstanding contemporary public sculpture and monuments installed in the previous year and fostering a broader engagement with this vital art form.

Thanks to all who visited us - what a beautiful day!

Thanks to Joanna Warsza @jowa_hkhk @stadtkuratorin_hh, Duk Hee Jordan @dukhee_, Mariechen Danz @mariechendanz, Natalya Stupka @natalyastupka and to the St Nikolai Memorial @mahnmalst.nikolai for making this day possible.

“Flicker”, Pop-up exhibition by the Environmental Intervention Class, led by Prof. Duk Hee Jordan @dukhee_ 💐

As part of the FIRE exhibition program, members of the Environmental Intervention class at the HfbK Hamburg, led by Prof. Duk Hee Jordan, were invited to present their work at the St. Nikolai Memorial. Accompanied by a workshop with Katja Lonzeck, the workshop director for sustainability, and under the artistic mentorship of Mariechen Danz @mariechendanz, the artists explore the exhibition’s themes from both an environmental perspective and through queer practice. Using site-specific installations and performances, heat and energy are explored as fundamental forces with destructive potential, yet also understood as the basis of life and as elements deeply rooted in rituals and spirituality. The intervention examines how heat and the transformative power of fire can also be utilized, valued, and shared as a collective source of energy. As part of a five-hour intervention, the memorial site surrounding the main exhibition was brought to life through performances and installations.

Soft Ground: A Children Museum
ChemicalMoonBaby
Mittelstrasse 12, 8008 Zurich
From July 15, 2026
14.00-18.00pm

Soft Ground is a permanent Children’s Museum created for the imagination of a child. The museum draws inspiration from forest ecosystems to create an environment where children can imagine themselves becoming another form of life. Whether as a worm, a beetle, or another inhabitant of this newly crafted habitat, visitors are invited to reconsider their place within the vast and interconnected world of nature.
At the heart of the installation is an interactive floor animated by the continuous movement and labor of insects. Visitors can intervene in this living environment through their actions, whether intentional or accidental. Every disturbance, however, is met with an enduring resilience: if one insect disappears, many more emerge, revealing cycles of renewal, adaptation, and collective survival.

Oversized leaves, giant worms, and cocoon-like structures populate the space, offering alternative ways to play, explore, and perceive the world. Challenges of height, scale, and distance are transformed into opportunities for discovery within a warm, welcoming atmosphere illuminated by light reminiscent of a late spring or autumn afternoon. Every surface—the ground, the walls, and the sculptural form —is soft to the touch. Through this immersive environment, Soft Ground reimagines what an artistic intervention for children can be, encouraging young visitors to experience the world from perspectives beyond their own.

My gratitude goes to Kathrin Bechtler for her trust in me and for giving me the opportunity to develop this Children’s Museum.

Thank you to Vincent Teuscher and the Arthandling team, and to my studio team, Andrea (@ingredient_list) and Leo (@leo_necroaesthetics), for their work and support throughout the project.

I would also like to thank @alexanderlevy for their continued support and thoughtful guidance along the way. by @dukhee_
