What an amazing evening we had at last Thursday’s @royaltelevisionsociety RTS Ireland awards! Our Film ‘Ransom’79’ took home the ‘Best Factual Single’ award. Such a wonderful coda to the journey we’ve all been on making the film, but also a fitting tribute to its subject; the late journalist Charlie Bird. Thank you to everyone at John Kelleher Media for trusting me with the edit; no small ask considering it was my first full feature and despite my roots.. I’m not Irish. Very grateful and proud of us all and the feature. Hopefully coming to screens outside of Rep. of Ireland soon.. 🎥 taken in Dublin Royal Convention Centre by @dulead

Positively buoyant that ‘Ransom’79’ has been nominated for Best Factual Single at this year’s RTS Ireland awards!! As well as a lovely acknowledgement of all the hard work everyone on the team put in, it’s a wonderful nod to the late great Charlie Bird, without whom the film wouldn’t exist 🫶 by @dulead

11/11/25 - After 20 odd years We got the band back together..

Thanks a million to @inhalerdublin for the support slot (and harmonica and tambo) and my fellow @thebanditsliverpool for putting in the hours.

We enjoyed it so much we're doing two more with @babyshamblesuk on 29/30th in Liverpool/Manchester. Still some tickets available x

My past and present combined sensationally over the weekend, when @sheffdocfest screened a wonderful new feature about @thecoralband . I sat at the back with the band like a bunch of naughty school kids (all of us now in our 40’s) laughing at our lives 20 odd years ago. Other bands on the scene (including my own @thebanditsliverpool) got a mention and a chance to speak - it felt a true representation of those heady days back in Liverpool. All those rooms, corridors and alley ways we frequented to and from gigs and tours leapt out the screen at me; and as a documentarian myself I got a taste of my own medicine seeing elements of my past fed back to me in a room full of people. It was emotional to say the least. So great chatting to the lads again after so long; it felt like it’d been a few weeks not decades! The film perfectly captured the aesthetic of the band and the ‘Us Vs Them’ DIY nature of the scene. I wondered maybe these memories would get lost in the mists of time; but this film has made the abstract more (but not too) tangible. Thankyou so much @jamesslaterjames and @j6films for making it all ‘real’. Boss tunes too obvs 😝 #dreamingofyouthemakingofthecoral taken in Sheffield by @dulead
