Dar-us-Sakina's Adult Day Program is building a pool of reliable substitute teachers and teacher assistants who can step in when our regular team needs backup.

For 10 years, Dar-us-Sakina has been building a community where individuals with disabilities and their families feel seen, supported, valued, and included. 💙

What began as a vision has grown into a community serving more than 650 families, powered by hundreds of dedicated interns, volunteers, donors, and supporters who believe that inclusion is everyone's responsibility.

Now, it's time to celebrate the people who made this journey possible and come together to ensure this impact continues for the next decade!

Take a peek behind the scenes as our ADP participants turn fabric into art! Each hijab bouquet is carefully folded and wrapped by hand, and with every piece, participants practice concentration, creativity, and fine motor skills as part of our production curriculum.

This month, the ADP Store is featuring chiffon hijabs wrapped in a beautiful bouquet style! Find the perfect match for an outfit or give one as a gift to someone you love.

Every item is made by our Adult Day Program (ADP) participants, who will also be setting up and running the table themselves as part of their vocational skills training.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Sarah Chahrazed for generously volunteering her time and talents with our Teen and Adult Program (TAP) to teach our participants the art of crochet!

Sarah learned crochet while growing up in Algeria, where knitting, crochet, and embroidery were embraced by her family. Today, she continues to share her passion through Maison du Cafe et Fil, bringing creativity and connection to others through her craft.

A huge thank you to Sabiha Afreen, BCBA, for generously volunteering her time and skills to support our Adult Day Program!

Each month, Sabiha visits our program to spend time with each participant, review their goals, and celebrate their progress. She then sits down with our staff to share feedback, answer questions, and help plan meaningful next steps. Before each semester, she also helps our team set new goals so every participant can keep building skills and independence.

We're so blessed to have her in our corner, and we're thankful to her team at Success on the Spectrum for supporting her in giving back to our community. 🤝

At Dar-us-Sakina, we support the entire family unit by recognising the caregivers and siblings of individuals with disabilities as our Power Moms, Power Dads, and Power Siblings. 💙

Isolation and a lack of support are among the hardest challenges caregivers face. That's why the regular meetups coordinated by our Supports Team, where our Power Moms connect and build meaningful friendships, are so highly anticipated.

Recently, our Power Moms gathered for a well-deserved brunch full of heartfelt conversation, laughter, and community. We're grateful to create spaces where caregivers feel seen, supported, and reminded that they are never alone. by @dushouston

Our Sunday School provides a welcoming and supportive environment where special need students can learn Islamic Studies, Quran, Arabic, Wudu, and Salah while building friendships and connecting with their community.
