Nine days. Volcanic mountains. One of the rarest sheep on earth. 🏔️

Dustin Roe of Backcountry BC & Beyond takes us deep into southern Baja California in pursuit of the elusive Weemsi bighorn – a hunt defined by brutal terrain, extreme heat and just 20 permits a year.

Another season over and another coming fast. Thank you to all the crew and clients who made 2025 another memorable one. Next fall is already shaping up to be one for the books. I’m looking forward to show season, catching up with past clients and helping new clients with more amazing adventures and lasting friendships to be made. “One more mountain morn” by @dustinroe

With, guides, wranglers and hunters all spread out across 17,000 square miles, onX is essential to our success year to year. The vast country and thick vegetation, it’s a true game changer to be able to share trails and pins while out in the bush. 🤜🏼 by @dustinroe

🚨 Leica Hunting USA partners with Backcountry BC and Beyond and Cesar Lake Outfitters

“Months out of every year, our guides live behind the glass — picking apart mountains and valleys in some of the toughest country on earth. Whether it’s counting annuli on rams, picking a caribou out of the brush, or aging an old billy on a distant face, clarity matters. We trust Leica Optics to deliver the precision and reliability needed to find world-class animals in wild, unforgiving places.“

“Working with Backcountry & Beyond, Dustin Roe, and Steven Laughter is about showing the reality of guiding in the backcountry. Dustin has built one of the most successful outfitters up North, spending decades in some of the harshest country on earth—where failure isn’t an option. That’s the standard Leica optics are built for. In that terrain, guides don’t gamble on glass. They run what lasts.”

We joined @dustinroe and his daughter Nevaeh on her first hunt—

Here are a few moments that reminded us what hunting is really about: time together, lessons learned, and a lot of laughs along the way.

@dustinroe promised his daughter Nevaeh that when she turned 10—he’d take her on her first sheep hunt.

So, in the middle of one of his busiest outfitting seasons to date, he hit pause. Because a promise is a promise.

@kerenzucker and I were lucky enough to tag along on this special hunt, capturing the quiet lessons and meaningful moments passed from father to daughter.

Watching him guide her through this experience, the terrain, the decisions, the high, lows, and in betweens—it was clear he wasn’t just leading her through a hunt. He was teaching her resilience, patience, how to keep going when things get hard, and most importantly not forgetting to have fun. Some of the many lessons that start in the mountains, but follow us through life. by @dustinroe
