My first PET scan after my NSCLC Stage4 diagnosis.

Another reminder that my life can still be measured in scans, bloodwork, treatments and waiting rooms.

This time, there is good news. ❤️

The cancer is responding to treatment. This isn’t a “cancer-free” post. This is Stage 4. This is incurable as of now. Treatment is still part of my life, and it will be for the foreseeable future.

But today, I get to breathe a little deeper.

Today, I get to be grateful that the treatment is doing what we hoped it would do.

I’m learning that living with Stage 4 cancer means holding two completely opposite feelings at the same time:

I am terrified of what the future holds… and I am incredibly grateful for the life I have today.

So I’m going to keep making plans.

Keep traveling.
Keep laughing.
Keep showing up.
Keep walking toward that marathon finish line.

Because cancer may have changed my life.

But it does not get to decide how I live it.

One treatment.
One test.
One milestone at a time. ❤️

Never in a million years I would have thought to make a post like this. But i have been diagnosed with lung cancer. It started with rib pain when i ran my 2nd @everywomansmarathon . A couple of months later i found out that my ribs broke as a result of a lung cancer that spread to my bones and brain. As a 49 year old non smoker this really rocked my world (and that of friends and family) at this time we still do not have the answers, we need to identify the genetic mutation so i can receive the perfect treatment offered by @ohc_care once i start treatment and i see how i feel, i want to participate in the 3rd every womans marathon. I have started to a separate IG account @c_cancer_run i will share my journey there. I will not let cancer define who i am. I will be planning a fund raiser in the near future. The last couple of weeks have been a blur, but i have an amazing support system . And like i have been saying I will be the Magic Johnson of lung cancer. 🤍 Mean while i am asking to give me, my children and family some privacy as we have to adjust to this news. Once i am ready to share more updates it will be happening on @c_cancer_run by @dutches76
