Pedal & Paint: San Francisco Edition! Featuring one of my dearest friends, @santafecruickshank, we explore and draw/paint 12 landmarks named after writers who once called San Francisco home. All in one day. This was filmed back in 2021… it has been like writing the Great American Novel to get the edit done, five years later. I hope you’ll hop over and give it a watch. taken in San Francisco, California by @duttonart

Episode S02E06 is live! This is a collection of Pedal & Paint outings over a ten-year period in a regional park close to home. It’s a fun look at how my setups for painting, riding, and filming have evolved.

Info/link at the end of the video, or you can search “Pedal and Paint” on YouTube.

Music by @jessebrownpiano via Musicbed, who unbeknownst to him has scored this season’s episodes.

…I’m at the halfway point of my promise to put out one long-form video a month for a year. A lot of people have commented on the calm these videos bring to their day. Others have been inspired to embark on creative adventures of their own. All of the support, encouragement, and shared experiences are so deeply appreciated. Thank you!

Very excited to return to the project most near and dear to my heart. 🥰

First ep is locked in and ready. A week from today!

I'm too nervous to spell out too many details, based on how the algae-rhythm may or may not work (hence the clever-to-me nickname), so hopefully you just know where to look. And while you're at it, my Paint-tron is another spot where things are brewing. by @duttonart

Art and bicycles: a pairing that endures as a catalyst for creativity. To celebrate this connection, we invited the “pedalling painter” Mike Dutton ( @duttonart ) to help curate Field Studies, a series of rides centred around cycling and self-expression.

Under this banner, we take to the trails, ride our bikes, and then put paint to canvas. Any bike will do; all are welcome.

For our inaugural outing, we chose sunny Southern California. Starting at Outside Supply ( @outside.supply.tis ) in Costa Mesa. With a group of about twenty-five we set off for the Newport Bay Nature Preserve, a peaceful idyll perfect for reflection. Paints, brushes, and Field Studies-exclusive Brooks leather palettes were distributed, and the work began.

Whelp, 49. I’ve officially hit my LATEST 40s. It’s hard to feel celebratory as the world seems to be doing everything it can to break my/our spirits – but I’m making a conscious effort this year to control what I can control. For my health’s sake – I was not kind to it in 2025. I’m trying to focus on positivity, seeking out the things that give me calm or healing: bike rides, time with family, maintaining a sense of humor, making art outside of work. by @duttonart
