DYCLE is a fundamentally new way of how baby diapers are to be produced, used, and upcycled. We are social startup based in Berlin, Germany.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
We are DYCLE, a social startup supporting parents who want to take a sustainable approach by using compostable diapers☺️🌱

Through a diaper collection system, we convert diaper waste into black soil, which is subsequently used for growing fruit trees and plants locally 🍎🍐🫐🙌✨

We want well-being for babies, parents and the planet🫶

What does it look like inside buckets?🤔🤔🤔

One of the great feedbacks from parents was the fact that used diapers did not have a bad smell at all. 👏👏👏

For this, we kindly asked each parent to add activated biochar powder each time inside of their collection bucket. The best is adding it directly on the baby's urine and feces. Biochar prevents bad smell 💝💝💝

Here you see! All the parents did a good job! 🙌🙌🙌

Was entdecken wir dabei? Welche Fragen entstehen?

How can local herbs, shared cooking and a little experimentation bring sustainability into everyday life?

During the “From Waste to Taste: Herbal Waffle Time” workshop, organised as part of our Eco-Quest programme and in collaboration with Soil Social Club, participants explored the edible plants and herbs growing in the garden at Atelier Gardens and experimented with how they could be used in everyday cooking.

Working in small groups, participants prepared vegan waffles. Each group created its own combination of herbs and plants, experimenting with how different ingredients could influence flavour, aroma and texture, while also learning more about their properties and benefits for our bodies.

The workshop brought together gardening, cooking and experimentation, encouraging participants to discover local plants in a practical and creative way. After preparing the waffles, we came together for a shared tasting, combining them with different toppings also created using ingredients from the garden.

Rather than following one fixed recipe, the activity became a space for curiosity, exchange, and discovering how much variety can come from ingredients growing just around us.
A big thank you to Soil Social Club for sharing their knowledge of the garden, plants and flavours with us, and to everyone who joined, experimented, cooked and tasted together.

They felt it before they had the words. 🌱

This summer, Japanese and German high school students joined “Diversity Voyage in Germany,” organized by GiFT within the Kyoto City Board of Education’s Global Leader Development Training.

The theme: exploring a regenerative future.

At DYCLE, we explored 5 Kingdoms of Nature, Systemic design mapping at @Ateliergardens Berlin and walked through Berlin, worked with Living Soil at Prinzessinnengarten and created art works in the end.

One of our first activities was simple:
Five different soils.
One question.

“If you were growing a plant, which soil would you choose?”

Many chose our Living Soil.
They noticed the smell.
The insects.
The signs of life.

No theory. No explanation.
Just a first encounter with living soil.

And over the week, something changed.
More hands went up.
More voices emerged.

Different students began sharing their own ideas in English.
They didn’t need to be told what to think.
They experienced, connected and created.

✨ Maybe learning begins there.

Reconnection isn’t only about meeting new people🌱

Sometimes it’s about returning.

Returning to the gardens where you once shared knowledge.

Returning to people who quietly kept going.

Returning to communities that make you feel you can simply be yourself.

During the Terra Preta compost workshop, realizing that regeneration isn’t only something we create in soil.

It also grows through relationships that continue over time✨✨✨

Thank you to everyone who made this year’s KompostFestival Berlin such a beautiful reminder of that. @mikrobiomikorg @kompost.zone
With some beautiful photo by@ Nico Baumgarten. Thank you for capturing these moments!

Can healthy soil help cities stay cool?

On July 21st, we teamed up with DYCLE and the Soil Social Club to host our event “Cool Soils for Hot Summers,” at Atelier Gardens. The evening brought together young people to explore how composting, community gardening and healthy soils can contribute to more sustainable and climate-resilient cities.

DYCLE team introduced different approaches to composting, including the long-running Terra Preta compost and worm composting. Participants also had the opportunity to take part in the composting process themselves, learning practical techniques while discussing the importance of community-led environmental action.

For those interested in trying Terra Preta composting at home, DYCLE has also made available a free guide on producing Terra Preta from kitchen waste, which can be downloaded here: https://dycle.org/en/downloads.

The second part of the evening focused on cooking and community. Using fresh, seasonal ingredients harvested directly from the garden, we prepared a simple meal together while exchanging ideas and strengthening local communities through shared spaces and collective action.
The event offered much more than practical skills. It created a space for conversation, learning and connection, showing how small local actions can contribute to healthier cities and more sustainable lifestyles.
A big thank you to the Soil Social Club and DYCLE for sharing their knowledge and making this inspiring evening possible, and to everyone who joined us and contributed to the discussions, cooking and community spirit.
This event is part of the Youth Participation Project “EcoQuest - Youth for a Sustainable Future”, funded by the European Union. EcoQuest supports young people in developing a deeper understanding of environmental sustainability and actively engaging with the EU Youth Goal Sustainable Green Europe.
