At long last the Out There: A National Park Story soundtrack is out wherever you listen to music! I had the absolute privilege to write music for America’s most treasured landscapes and the amazing people who preserve and enjoy them. The soundtrack features my original score and 4 original songs perfect for your next road trip. The songs feature the incredible vocals of @marywebs and @taylrashtn! I hope you listen and enjoy! Huge thanks to @brendanfilm for giving me this amazing opportunity, @dylan.mckinstry who spent so many hours in the studio and on the road with me making this music and to all my incredible collaborators who brought this music to life! You can rent @outthere.film which directly gives back to our parks and the organizations that support them now at - outthere.film! taken in Out There by @dylan.mckinstry

It was a pleasure to work with my dear friend @elizabethpwmusic recording and writing songs for Out There: A National Parks Story. It’s an incredible film by @brendanfilm showcasing personal stories of the enormous and often life-altering impact national parks can have on the people who visit them, care for them, and keep them alive. It’s no secret that the future of these sacred parks is uncertain and under constant threat. i’m hoping this film and its music can serve as a reminder just how lucky we are to have them. you can watch @outthere.film now! go do it and listen to this soundtrack on repeat!!

As we celebrate Out There’s online release, our composer @elizabethpwmusic is beginning to share the film’s original songs!

We always dreamed of giving Out There a true road movie soundtrack. Elizabeth P.W. took on the challenge, scoring more than 50 original music cues and writing an entire album of original songs along the way. Created alongside musician and producer @dylan.mckinstry, the two have played our film’s songs at screening events all around the country.

Today, you can watch the music video for the film’s title track, “Head West,” and start planning your next big trip. We filmed the video while traveling between screenings, with the coastlines and landscapes of Maine and Oregon as our backdrop 🌊

Watch “Head West” now. Link in bio! by @dylan.mckinstry

This Scarlatti project was born in a Brooklyn studio on an upright piano with @dylan.mckinstry engineering this past April🎙️

We recorded three sonatas together, but I wanted to put this one out here first (K.380) before I share the rest. I wasn’t going for perfection — I just wanted to see how far I could push this instrument and if I could capture what a bare, live performance sounds like on a piano that’s a little limited but very friendly. All the hesitations, squeaking bench, and breaths included🧃

I suggest listening with an open mind ✨

In 2021 @brendanfilm approached me about scoring his incredibly personal and ambitious debut feature Out There: A National Parks Story. He wanted the movie to have a fully original soundtrack comprised of both original song and score that captured the feeling of the road trip at its center. As a national parks lover myself, I was thrilled by the opportunity to write music for these iconic, beloved landscapes and wear all my creative hats as a songwriter, composer, and producer. Thank you @brendanfilm for trusting me with bringing this soundtrack to life and for asking me to bring my whole self to this project!

Head West is the opening credits song in the film, it’s the song you put on as you’re pulling out of your driveway, ready for an epic adventure. I hope you have as much fun listening to it as we did making it! Can’t wait to share more about the musical journey of @outthere.film with you! Head West is available now wherever you listen to music!

Much love and unending thanks to my co-pilot @dylanmckinstry who brought these songs to life with me and plays too many instruments and does too many things too well.

Huge thank you to @brendanfilm for trusting me with your baby and giving me this opportunity and @gabriella.canal for architecting this collab!

…baek-il aka he’s a 100 days old!

A 100 days ago, he slid out, with little warning, over our toilet. A BIG THANK YOU to our midwife @nettlewellness , our doula (and photographer!) @louureadd , and birth assistant @mp.the.doula for shepherding the arrival of our dashi boy. Couldn’t recommend them fast enough to anyone having a baby! And if anyone is curious about home births I’m an open book.

Today also happens to be both dylan’s and my dad’s birthdays which is kinda sweet too ❤️
