“Pinewood Derby I” is out now everywhere, all the time, for your listening pleasures. I don’t know where to start with this, it’s been such a long and educational process for me making this album. So much has happened in my life from the start and finish, i’ve learned so much, lost and gained loved ones, and the experiences I had on this trip still impact me all the time. This album is as much a product of the time I spent traveling the Northeast by myself, meeting and learning from locals, spending time in beautiful scenery and doing photography, as much as it is of the amazing people around me that continue to motivate and inspire me every day. Thank you could never be enough to the people who have helped me and had their hands on this thing @mathrockmiles @leobrandt._ @ian.liu1022 @martyjquinn @sqwidwierd @message0fpeace @mynamerhymes @staylo_inavoid @martin_c_93 @kyriossolo, Andreas Kellepouris, @jake.sonderman @sarah.nasci @georgethomp1 I’m really proud of how everything came out in the end, and I feel like the places that these songs are connected to is are so tangible. The last two pictures are me from when I started this album in my senior year of high school, to now 3 years later. So, enjoy. The Grand Canyon National Park, AZ on 120mm with Kodak Gold 200

This was my last stop along the way from miami to los angeles, and it was the perfect book end to the beautiful adventure I had just spent 10 days embarking on. the grand canyon has always been a landmark of the west and place of interest to me ever since seeing those special trips people would get to do in middle school, so having it be a part of my westward journey, at the very peak, was definitely a special feeling. i went about 5 miles down on the bright angel trail, which is like a massive 16 mile loop, but i didn’t even think about the elevation when i was planning so i stopped before i exponentially increased my hike back up. the ascent back kicked my freaking a$$ and i got back to my motel, showered off my orange glow, and slept like an infant. That mexican blue jay was following me along my hike a decent amount. cute fella. by @dylan.mcnulty

Bisti Badlands, NM on 120mm & digital with Kodak TMAX 400

right off the bat, new mexico is one of the most beautiful places i’ve ever been. it easily has made no. 1 state i want to go back to and explore unquantifiably. going into the badlands, i had to put the mini through like 6 miles of unmarked, stone pathed hell that felt begrudging to drive through. once i made, it there was a gate that said “beware: now entering the wilderness” blablabla that frightened me a bit because i was like literally the only one there.

i hiked for, i think, about 8 miles, and the landscape was so completely foreign and alien to anything i had ever seen before. what really holds you about this place is just how strange everything is. it is almost completely barren, void of most life barring a rattlesnake and some greenery i saw. if i hadn’t run out of water i would’ve just kept walking and exploring a scape so inspiring and vast it feels as if im the first to ever be there. by @dylan.mcnulty

White Sands National Park, NM on 35mm & 120mm with Kodak TMAX 400 & Gold 200

oh my lord this place. i drove here right from big bend national park, and i’ll talk about it more in another new mexico post, but driving across the southern west was so breathtaking, and honestly, shocking. this is hands down one of the most special places i’ve been to, it felt just so serene and heavenly. the san andres mountain range being silhouetted by the burning sunset like a hole of light in the sky made me just stand in awe at this marvel of a place. I had never been in or to a desert before, let alone a completely white one. i remember walking and taking photos for hours here, really just trying to take in the tranquil, sand-diffused and ocean-less soundscapes paired with saturated skyline cut by the shadowed wall of mountain. by @dylan.mcnulty

Petrified Forest National Park, AZ & random stop in southwestern TX on Ilford HP5 pushed 4 stops and Kodak Gold 200

pushing the film for the petrified forest really worked out i think; adding a lot more grain and contrast coupled with the storm rolling in added to the ominous name that the petrified forest has. i only stumbled upon this place on my drive from the badlands in new mexico to williams, arizona, but happy i stopped.

this is just another random stop i made at a gas station. it was right about the moment i realized southwest texas has really huge mountains, which was a shock because i thought texas was totally flat. it was really beautiful and there was yet another storm rolling in that was the first to encumber one of my drives. but it looked really cool. by @dylan.mcnulty

I’d never been to New Orleans and I really liked it. Reminded me a lot of Nashville just a bit darker and like diagon alley, didn’t see any jazz :/

Big shout to @coryfica for telling my big bend was right next to me it was completely breathtaking and awe-inspiring :D 🌄

Getting to know you guys has been a pleasure of a lifetime. In highschool I literally used to listen to your first record all the time and coming down to Miami and not only getting to know you beautiful people, but create irreplaceable memories from tiny office rehearsals to driving throughout Florida and other states in Matilda, I could never forget any of it and it is still all so crazy to me. Thank you for letting me in your awesome indie rock party @cannibalkids @martyjquinn @bennettwyler @eliplaystrombone @that_luke_guy_ you guys are utter beasts ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥
