Starting grad school at the end of August has been no joke so I haven’t had a chance to post some of these summer photos, but I wanted to share ‘em because both bands rip. And after taking photos for seven years now, the first in this set is easily a personal top 5 picture I’ve taken.
All the way from Richmond, here are the high flyin’ Invertebrates and the mighty Public Acid, shot on a very warm night at La Santa in Santa Ana, CA ☀️
They’ve got a split with each other coming out, I believe later this year, on Beach Impediment and I got to hear some of those upcoming songs over the summer and ooof 😅
It’s some of the best stuff to drop in 2026.
Looking forward to hearing the full split in its entirety so I’ve got some new tunes to fuel my gym sessions

Two Home Front shows from Sound and Fury weekend this summer ☀️
To be honest, prior to last November, I had never heard of Home Front but seeing them with Cock Sparrer at the Palladium, they absolutely blew me away. Seeing them in a huge venue like the Palladium, then in a small space like First Street and then on a big festival stage the next day just shows their ability to command any spot they play in.
This band is the real deal. No one can deny they’ve got a huge trajectory ahead of them and it’ll be exciting to watch them continue to rise.

Watching them play at dusk on this massive stage in front of so many people was such a cool, stadium-like experience. They’ve been a favorite of mine for years and this set is up there as one of the best of the year for me. It was so great to catch them at both shows when they were in town this summer 💪🏽
Would highly recommend everyone watch their set from this show on YouTube to relive just how rad seeing this was.

Friday photo post because why not?
Public Acid at 1st St. Pool Hall, shot last month. It’s rare that I stay up past my bedtime of 9 pm but there are some bands I’ll make exceptions for. I can safely say that Public Acid is one of them.
One of the hardest live bands out right now; already can’t wait until the next time they come around ☢️☢️☢️

Public Acid / Invertebrates, after rocking the masses at the world famous 1st St. Pool Hall in Los Angeles ☢️🕷️
Some of the best group photos I’ve ever shot and I’m thankful they were game to stand in front of my lens for a few minutes after the show.
🙏🏽
Each have new releases coming out this year and it’s recommended to play them very loud.
Both bands are stacked with shredders of the highest degree and are not to be slept on; badass bands, better people. I’ll share more live shots of each band later but for now, I was too hyped to not show these first 💥

If you like a stage literally filled with amps and frighteningly loud shoegaze, there’s a high chance you’ll dig Tired Eyes 👁️👁️
My dawg/their bassist Brendan and I have traveled all around the world together, playing songs that are a bit shorter and on amps that aren’t nearly as plentiful as the band’s setup. Even though we haven’t played together in quite some time, it’s great seeing my bud doing his thing, creating banger music for the masses.
These photos, in my opinion, capture the mood of the band and I can’t recommend enough that people check them out. Highly suggested for fans of good, loud, and mercurial shoegaze ✨✨✨

Late but necessary graduation post after developing the photos of that day 🎓
After graduating high school in 2011, I always said I would return to school at some point. Touring the world playing loud, aggressive music with my buds delayed that plan until January 2019 when I finally went back to community college (shout out Fullerton College!) to see where this school thing took me. Only enrolling in two classes then, I wanted to “take my time.”
Although I technically “graduated” in December 2025 since that was when I completed my degree requirements,
fast-forward to the actual ceremony in May 2026, and as I post this now in July, it still feels surreal to be able to officially say that I am a graduate of the University of Southern California ❤️💛
The love and encouragement I received from my wonderful and loving fiancée Angela (💝💝💝), our six emotional support cats, my amazing mom, my brother Sean, my soon-to-be mother in law Barb, her husband Gary, two of my mentors Dr. Martha Stroud and Dr. Wolf Gruner at the Center for Advanced Genocide Research and all of my wonderful professors, classmates and others I can’t fit into this post who were all part of this journey, I really can’t express enough gratitude. The twice a week, nearly two-hour round trip commute for five semesters was worth it and then some.
Seven years ago, if you had told me this dude who played drums in hardcore, punk and powerviolence bands would graduate with a 3.97 GPA from a top-tier school like USC, I would’ve asked who you were referring to.

*for my California friends*
The last few years I’ve really soured on electoral politics. After watching how both parties stood idly by and let Gaza be turned into a graveyard, in good conscience, I could not give either party my vote.
Not to mention just how unbelievably feckless Democrats (the so-called opposition party) are at just about every turn. Rejecting both parties that couldn’t care less about my values and those around me led to volunteering the last six months for the @butchware for California Governor campaign. If I didn’t truly believe in the goal and the platform, I wouldn’t have gotten as involved as I was able to the last few months.
As some of you start to receive your ballots over the next few weeks, and on June 2nd, Election Day, the best thing you can do is reject the duopoly and write in Butch Ware’s name as seen above.
Electoral politics isn’t the be-all and end-all solution to a better world, but getting behind a candidate and a platform like Butch’s and the Green Party’s shows that the days of the two evil parties that run this country are numbered.
Grab your nearest pen, write in Butch Ware for California Governor and vote Green 💚

It’s very rare I celebrate my accomplishments but with three weeks of school left to go, I thought it would be good to share my speech I gave two weeks ago after receiving a scholarship from the Trojan Guild of Orange County. Had to shout out as much as I could in my short time at the podium but I’ll give thanks to more in my inevitable graduation post 🎓🎓🎓 taken in University of Southern California by @dylan_arseo
