Finally, one of these 2013 reissues of the first Flaming Lips EP showed up (at Amoeba) so having some trade credit in hand I had to get it. I think this was a very limited RSD release (signed by Wayne!) but whatever it was I missed it at the time.

Love the art, a trippy extrapolation of the original EP photo (which I have, 1985 2nd press, red vinyl). Musically, this is a pretty great punk-prog psych trip with echoes of early 80s Cure, pre DSOM Floyd and Butthole Surfers but more fun ultimately. @flaminglips @waynecoyne5 #flaminglips #nowplaying #records #recordcollecting #vinyl @iloveflaminglips by @dynovoice

Beatle Banjos From Hell - With the right scripting this could be the soundtrack for a twisted early 60s mod-gothic horror mystery film (think proto Scooby Doo) set in the deep south. Or it could be intercut music for a Fab4 take on The Monkees’ Head. However, I think this was created for 50-60 somethings in the Lawrence Welk set who wanted to keep pace with the kidz.

Strange how I went through my entire life never having heard of producer Norrie Paramor until about 3 years ago, and now he pops up with frequency in the strangest of places. This is yet another “Beatle Exploitation” record that I've never seen before which is amazing as I have probably close to 100 if not more). Thrift find.

On this foggy San Francisco morning, my favorite Bill Evans LP is the perfect soundtrack. I know this isn't the Evans album the cool kids listen to but I don't care. This album won't get sampled. But, it was my gateway to discovering Evans' music and frankly, its quite beautiful and introspective.

One of the rare moments where lush orchestral strings play nice with jazz, largely due to Ogerman's arrangements. Its marks the first appearance of Evans' "Time Remembered." I only wish this album could be remixed.

Boss bargyn bin garage surf sounds from The Rumblers. Not the super rare indie first press but still pretty obscure. Fun too! #rumblers #garagebandmusic #surfband #nowplaying by @dynovoice

Woke with an earworm for The 4 Deuces' "W-P-L-J" but can't find my 78 RPM disc. Thus, I'm forced (twist my arm) to play Zappa's version on Burnt Weeny Sandwich (where many/most of us first heard the song). Got this lovely promo in a trade with a friend some years back (with the poster). Someday I'll find a original 78 on the fun Music City label like this (swipe to see; the one I have is a boring red / beige design). This would make a great T-shirt! #zappa #wplj #nowplaying #vinyl #records by @dynovoice

One more spin of the jaw-dropping pre-master early mix of Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention's 1966 masterpiece, Freak Out! This is in the new 60th Anniversary boxed set which I review on Analog Planet (vinyl) and eCoustics (CD/Bluray). @zappa #zappa #frankzappa #freakout #vinyl #nowplaying by @dynovoice

Monday More Mantra - "More" is my theme for Monday morning so enjoying this supposed sequel to Oliver Nelson's "Blues & The Abstract Truth" which probably would have been better received with a different title. As it stands, this is a perfectly fine swingin' session with some great players. And this original Mono pressing is sounding pretty sweet, must say (I also have a later Stereo on the red-ring Impulse label). #olivernelson #benwebster @impulserecords #impulserecords #nowplaying #vinyl by @dynovoice

Sunday night energy I needed right now from Thomas Walsh and his merry mates in Pugwash. If you like The Beatles, XTC, The Kinks, Emitt Rhodes, Brian Wilson and Jeff Lynne's ELO universe (including The Move and Idle Race) you will enjoy these excellent albums. Highly recommended. @thomaswalsh_artist @thomaswalsh69 #pugwash #nowplaying #xtc #elo #beatles by @dynovoice

When your favorite record shop has a beautiful copy of the 2nd Mar-keys album "Do The Pop-Eye" (1962) and you have store credit to burn, you grab it. Cover was a little dirty but it cleaned up neatly. Sounds great. This is effectively Booker T & The MGs with a horn section (although there may be some variances from track to track). Another fun find at Tunnel Records. #markeys #bookertandthemgs #bookert #stax #stevecropper @tunnelrecords by @dynovoice
