I binge-watched Below on Netflix, and all the while, I couldn't help but see parallels to my novel, Cecaelia. To name a few: people are disappearing, and at the beginning, no one knows why. Both feature misunderstood, giant, intelligent, multi-legged sea creatures. Both creatures seek revenge and/or protect their young. Small towns are under attack. Wealthy families are desperate to keep their secrets hidden. So if you couldn't stop watching Below, I highly recommend picking up my novel, Cecaelia, on Amazon or KU. Tis the season for spooky creature features after all! Happy reading! #horrorbook #horrorcommunity #indieauthor# oceanhorror #eahoffmannbooks by @e.a.hoffmann

Three monsters. Only one can survive. Which one wins? In one corner, a genetically engineered giant octopus with a taste for human flesh.

In another, an alien spider queen with plans for world domination.

And finally, a snail.

A toe-eating snail, but a snail nevertheless.

I need YOU to settle the ultimate creature-feature showdown.

WHO WINS? Are you:

Team Octopus
Team Spider Queen
Team Snail

Defend your choice in the comments. Bonus points for explaining how the snail wins. 😂

I write horror stories, but the scariest thing you’ll ever encounter is me before my morning coffee. At least the monsters in my books have an excuse. @kazoomazoo2 says: “Five stars for Toe Eater by E. A. Hoffmann!

A man who’s been terrified of snails since childhood finds himself in a nightmare when his young daughter brings one home as a pet.

Sounds ridiculous? Maybe. But I actually felt sorry for Martin. His fear is real to him, and nobody seems to understand what he’s going through.

Are the snails really attacking him, or has his fear taken over? That’s part of what makes this story so effective. The horror works either way, and the ending leaves you wondering what really happened.

A bizarre premise turned into a genuinely unsettling story. Very well executed!

5/5 stars!
Toe Eater is available now on Amazon and KU. #horrorbooks #eahoffmannbooks #indieauthor #bookrecs #horrorshortstories by @e.a.hoffmann

I don’t have any content ideas today, so here is a video of me walking with my dog before she went to the groomers. Hope you enjoy it. #indieauthor #authorlife #dogmom #doglife by @e.a.hoffmann

Do I look tired in this video? If so, it’s because I am. Between working, being a mom to a five year old, and taking care of an injured dog, it’s hard to fit in writing my newest creature feature and marketing, let alone sleep. I’ve been awake since 3am—insomnia—and I feel like I’m burning the candle at both ends. If it weren’t for coffee I’d be a steaming puddle of tears. Can anyone else relate? #indieauthor #girlmom #dogmom #insomniasucks #coffee by @e.a.hoffmann

My hobbies include reading, mostly horror books, writing horror stories, collecting far too many books, drinking a questionable amount of coffee and wondering how ordinary situations can become significantly more terrifying. That’s normal right? What are your hobbies?

Huge thanks to @kealanpatrickburke for the great cover of my new short story, Toe Eater. I absolutely love it!

In Toe Eater (available for pre-order on Amazon and KU at the URL below), Martin comes face-to-face with his shelled arch-nemesis when his daughter brings home a slimy new pet. Is the snail just an innocent invertebrate? Or will Martin struggle to survive the night? Based on a true story.

Looking for your next ocean horror book? Cecaelia is for readers who enjoy creature features, genetically engineered monsters, isolated island towns, and dark suspense. Sheriff Morgan Reed is 42, unexpectedly pregnant, and dealing with a complicated relationship with her subordinate. Then a man-eating, genetically engineered octopus starts wreaking havoc in Pleasant Shores. But is Cecaelia merely a mindless monster, or something far worse? If that sounds like your kind of nightmare, start reading Cecaelia today. Link in bio. #oceanhorror #bookrecommendations #indieauthor #eahoffmannbooks #creaturefeature by @e.a.hoffmann
