Overlooking the Thames, St. Clement is the new project by Nick Jones, founder of Soho House, built around a clear idea: rethinking the hotel experience from the things that genuinely make a stay enjoyable. Designed by interior designers Eagle + Hodges, it reinterprets the grand English hotel through a more relaxed and contemporary language. Warm materials, artworks and vintage pieces by George Nakashima and Jean Royère create interiors that feel closer to a private home than to a traditional hotel. The ninety rooms follow the same philosophy, with generous spaces and services shaped around the guest’s everyday needs. A complimentary minibar, included laundry service and an original bathroom minibar express an idea of comfort based on practical gestures rather than formality. Located within the new 180 Quarter in Temple, the hotel also includes Café Clement, Bobbi’s Bar and, once complete, Lunette, a private cinema and a three-level health club with a 25-metre pool overlooking the river. More than a hotel, St. Clement aims to become a new London address: a place to live and return to, where the quality of the spaces and the ease of the service define a more contemporary idea of hospitality.

Resin is enjoying a renaissance in contemporary design. Adrianna Shamaris’ Cracked Resin collection, which combines reclaimed teak with resin, was recently incorporated into the interiors of @180thethames and @st.clementlondon by Eagle + Hodges.

For co-founder Alex Eagle, the appeal lies in the tension between the contemporary and the natural. ‘The encapsulation of nature, frozen in time within the resin, just felt so beautiful’ she says. ‘They’re like sculptures, but they can be used as tables, which I love.’

‘With Eagle + Hodges, we want every piece to feel beautiful but also completely liveable,’ says Alex Eagle, who co-designed the Pimlico armchair and Strand armchair and sofa with her partner Sophie Hodges.

‘Something you want to sit in every day and keep forever. We think a lot about proportion, comfort and materials, and making pieces that feel timeless rather than designed for a particular moment.’

The writing desk invites pause - ever more valuable as our lives become busier. A well-designed desk offers both quiet inspiration and purpose.

Designers like @eagle.hodges have long understood this sensibility. At 180 The Thames, they’ve incorporated several Scandinavian writing desks, including one by Danish designer Svend Aage Madsen. Positioned outward to face the London skyline, these desks are not only a place to work but an invitation to reflect and revel in the city views.
