(sold) The buyer (@sarahwestlakenog ) wanted this one framed in white, and I was all too happy to oblige. A favorite of my most recent paintings, I'm happy to see it going to a good home where I hope it will bring a air of powerful calm. "The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed." Will you have the courage to chase your shadow through the desert? The desert is an enchanting and, at times, daunting place. An exciting place. A place of openness and vast horizons under an unrelenting and unforgiving sun. In the desert, it seems that anything is possible if only bc life struggles to take hold there. If only bc nothing seems posdi. It seems like an empty canvas. But look closely and you'll see life can thrive in this place. A place of self created options. Some people are drawn to the desert. Some folks say there are spirits that live there. I don't know about all that, but I do know that my own times riding, walking, and camping in the desert, through the desert, have been times of introspection and excitement. I'd be lying if I said I didn't find a spiritual element there. A Holy Openness where one must confront the shadow self, the tired self, the self that wants to give up under the heat of the beating sun, the self who thinks it's all just too hard. But also, The curious self, the self who wants to explore and press on, what's beyond that next ridge? Just one more mile. Exacerbation of our every day being.

This painting is a representation of my own desert explorations both literal and metaphysical. And the enchantment spiced with a little fear that I have found there. A curious place.

"In The Mix" (commissioned by Amy Zalud-Peterman and family) I've been on a 6 week, 6000 mi motorcycle trip (@eamonn.overland ) so I haven't been particularly diligent about posting artwork. This piece was commissioned by my biggest collector, Amy Zalud-Peterman along with two other pieces. This painting hopes to capture the liveliness (at times chaotic, always joyful) nature of the Peterman household. So happy to provide this painting for them, and that they like it so much! It's always an honor to place a painting with such great appreciators of the arts. Amy and family, with this purchase, have become my biggest collectors and I want to express a special statement of gratitude for their continued love of my artwork and for becoming such great friends! Today I celebrate 7 whole years clean and sober! It’s interesting to meet people who say they can’t imagine it being so bad for me that I needed to stop drinking. It’s nice to be seen that way, considering just how bad it had gotten. The friends who wouldn’t talk to me anymore, the overdose in another friend’s bathroom, the downfall of a man previously much loved by his peers, “don’t invite Eamonn,” I’m sure was muttered more than once, and the aggravated robbery of a Dollar General to get money for heroin that led to 10 months in jail and a last chance at sobriety as a free man.

I went to a meeting last night for the first time in a couple of months. I had an absolute awful day yesterday. One thing after another gone wrong, botched job interview, problems with the woodshop owner, then a flat tire to top it all. And I just thought, what the fuck am I even doing?? I felt this crushing weight and remembered that the only way I get to keep what I have is if I give it away. So I went to a meeting and talked with some other alcoholics. I did not want to go, told the meeting when it was my turn to talk that, “I didn’t want to go to this fucking meeting, but in my heart I knew it was a good idea.” So I went and I left afterwards feeling much lighter.
I was reminded at that meeting, one day before celebrating 7 years of continuous sobriety, that for a junky drunk like me, being clean and sober is a profound victory in and of itself. As time builds upon time, it gets easier and easier to forget that fact. But it’s true.
I share a bit of my past to say, if you’re in a position where you think you’re getting fucked up too much and you can’t stop once you start and can’t stay stopped once you do stop, there is hope and there is a solution. It gets better. I’m happy to talk with you about what worked for me or reach out to another friend who has found sobriety in a way that works for them and find out what works for you, if getting fucked up isn’t working, that is.
I’m so grateful for the my family who never disowned me for some reason and to the friends who have had my back and to the new ones currently being built. Love you all! And thank you for your existence. 💖🖖 taken in Long Beach, California by @eamonneamonn

In case y'all wondered what 43 looks like. The lighting in this bathroom was just too good! Big big moves this year! Literally across the whole country. A few more wrinkles, a lot more grey hairs, and a few less lbs. I've been incredibly lucky to make it around that big burning bastard 43 whole times! Sometimes I think the only reason I've made it this long is because of the beautiful array of friends and family I have. So thank you for being in my life. Happy Mother's Day to Kate Glod, the best mom a guy could ask for. I love you so much! You taught me about people watching and sushi and Milli Vanalli. You've always believed in me and I've always believed in you! Here's to many storefront cups off coffee and many more bleached hairs in both our futures. Been doing more framing than painting lately! Give @cnvsandframe a gander if you'd like to see more. I'm incredibly grateful to the people of Long Beach for all the framing jobs that came from me posting one time in Reddit that I was doing frames for a reasonable price locally.
Every day or two, there's another person a frame or four. Sometimes something small that I can do for like $30 and sometimes large canvas prints that require me to build a canvas stretcher and then obviously select larger pieces of wood from my growing collection. Not sure how long it'll go on, but it's nice right now.
I'm also so grateful for the stranger I met at the hardware store who, once we talked a little about woodworking, said I could come use his table saw (Jet with a very good fence) and his miter saw (DeWalt 12" CSMS) and workspace whenever I want. Tiny passed away comfortably in the lap of Sam Beard @incendiary_device last night. I hadn't seen her in years, and Sam was really with her much longer than I was. Though for the 5 years we were together, she became my compadre. My love. She had a tumor in her neck that she was unlikely to survive. Not that it matters, but I completely support Sam's decision to put her down.
Tiny was such a unique and individual soul. She was unlike any cat or person I'd ever met. She would follow me around when I'd walk around the block and come find me and scold me for being out to late if I was at after hours too late. We had a special bond, and leaving her behind, though unavoidable, will be one of my life's misgivings. I'm incredibly grateful for Sam for taking care of her all these years and for, undoubtedly, forming a bond with her. You're a great person for that.
You will always have a part of my heart Tiny. I hope to see you again. In whatever form that might be. I love you, always. Goodnight Tiny. by @eamonneamonn

Showing work At Test Site this weekend for ArtScene! 213 N. 3rd. A lot of great places this to visit and see work by area based artists! Hope you can make it!
