Sgraffito vessels are hot out of the kiln in mini and small sizes. I might even have one decorative bowl for a statement on a coffee table… who knows. Now, name a better weekend plan than @sculpturegardenartfair this weekend. Can’t? Hope to see you there Saturday and/or Sunday!

@stonearch_fest is one that I was most amped to apply for when I moved to Minnesota. I was told by a friend that the art at Stone Arch was at a higher level than what I create so I prob wouldn’t get in 😶 …challenge accepted! 🤝 This will be my 3rd year participating and when I drive home from work I still look over at the Stone Arch Bridge and feel as anticipatory and stoked as when my fingers were crossed that first festival season!

I flipping love this color sun/gray combo. It’s everything. Slightly mid-mod, but leaning more modern. And speaking of flipping, you can flip this pedestal bowl upside down and use it to hold a bouquet – hydrangeas, peonies anything bushy looks amazing in it. Cute as buttons, but make it earrings and wall hooks. Hooks for towels, leashes, jewelry, dried flowers…

À glimpse of what’s been going on this January in Minnesota as one ceramic artist…

We love our immigrant neighbors, we will protect them and we want them to feel safe and taken care of. We are all immigrants on stolen land. My ancestors came here for a dream of freedom, too.

Description of pics:
1 new studio mate, Pigeon, helps glaze a piece.
2 walkout to protest ICE at my son’s school, Roosevelt
3 grocery shopping for 3 families, now we are up to 10 (thank you to all who have given to ensure fresh produce, meat, diaper sizes, maseca flour, corn oil and most importantly dino nuggets, 💚)
4 protest to take a stand to get ICE out of MN (among other demands) downtown
5-6 sights of protest around town: Ope, ice k.lls, person sitting on the dinosaur with ice out sign that was in the background of Renee’s shooting (which contrarians said was a sign of AI, when really it’s a sign of Minnesotans)
-passport acquiring day for a one year old, Pigeon stayed home but we were successful! 🎉
-candlelight vigils across the state the night of Alex’s shooting
-snuggles with Pidgey = the best darn “therapy” taken in Minneapolis, Minnesota by @earthenjoy

I promised you! Just finished a kiln load that was filled to the brim with gifting items for 100 and under! “Wall Pockets” for bouquets or propagating, “Parfait Bowls” which also make fantastic catch-alls, and a first ever run of small “2-Dimensional Vases.” Come see what else I’ve got at the @tonkadale holiday market Saturday from 12-4! Today and tomorrow, swing by @q.armabuilding for fall open studios! Have a cider mocktail, snacks, and glaze a classy little cameo ornament with me today 3 to 6, tomorrow 12-5.

Think of something special to you: a pet, an initial, a food and I’ll provide all the supplies for you to paint on a scalloped oval earthenware ornament.. I’ll fire your cameo in the kiln, attach a velvet ribbon and you can pick up in a couple weeks. I have a booklet with inspo images for you to peruse if you need a creative jolt! $25 for one earthenware ornament.

The week before a show I put in ridiculous hours glazing bisque ware and adding finishing touches, losing track of time as the short hand passes midnight. These two wall sculptures after waiting months for glaze it finally struck me what I wanted to see on their carefully sculpted contours. I brushed glaze into each scallop with care and when these two came out of the kiln I couldn’t have been more pleased.
