Ten years.

Ten years of work by the rangers, protected area managers, researchers, scientists, and communities protecting our planet's most special places. Across 90 countries. Across 900 sites.

You shaped every feature. You told us what you needed. What EarthRanger has become traces back entirely to you.

Our 10-Year Impact Report is here, with case studies, EarthRanger by the numbers, and a letter from our director @jeslefcourt on the decade ahead.

This work matters more than ever. So do you.

Our visit to Mongolia is a wrap! Thank you to everyone who welcomed us.

Over two weeks, we worked alongside Mongolian partners in Bulgan Province, Ulaanbaatar, and Hustai National Park. In all, over 150 people joined trained.

In Bulgan Province, Shim Mandal, a Mongolian NGO, and local partners trained about 80 community members, emergency responders, and forest staff. The first live fire alert came in during the session. Thankful Shim Mandal is now an EarthRanger deployment partner, so teams across Mongolia, including the Mongolian Forest Agency, can get set up, trained, and supported from a Mongolian organization.

Back in Ulaanbaatar, Demnel, the Wildlife Science and Conservation Center (@wsccmongolia), and @wcs.mongolia, a member of @joinserca, completed advanced training. Then 40 scientists and practitioners from the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, @wwfmongolia, @tnc_mongolia, and @snowleopardtrust joined a two-day workshop. At Hustai National Park, 30 rangers and managers took part in field training.

We're glad to support the Mongolian teams doing this work, and we are still learning from them. by @earthrangertech

Let's be clear-eyed: most teams working in protected areas these days aren't short on data. What we're hearing..."what do I do with all these data?"

Our deployment partner @resolve.wildlife is running a three-day #EarthRanger Workshop on exactly that. From Data to Decision-Making, at @lapalala_wilderness_school in the Waterberg, 26 to 30 October, in collaboration with @joinserca.

If you manage a reserve, run a control room, or look after the data, this one is for you.

Wonderful to visit our new friends on Rapa Nui (Easter Island) this past week.

For years, Easter Island was the backdrop for EarthRanger’s demo site, the place where we showed new users how the platform works, populated with make-believe rhinos, elephants, and rangers.

Today, it is now a real EarthRanger site. The people of Rapa Nui are using conservation technologies, including EarthRanger, to help protect roughly 270,000 square miles of marine protected area. That work safeguards traditional artisanal fishing practices, the cultural and economic lifeblood of the island.

Horton the elephant wasn’t present this time. The real work of Rapa Nui has taken his place, and it is in great hands thanks to community members there and @wildaid by @earthrangertech

🌿🌊 by @earthrangertech

#WorldElephantDay, and we spent it in Sabah with the people doing the work.

Two days with Sabah Wildlife Department (@@5rhidupanliar_), @danaugirang, four local NGOs, and the Malaysian Palm Oil Association on designing and maintaining elephant early warning systems.

Wildlife Protection Solutions was with us in person. Their AI-connected camera traps flag what is moving at the forest edge within minutes, and teams already running CCTV can route those feeds into EarthRanger instead of starting over.

And to top it off, human-elephant coexistence practitioners from Thailand joined virtually to walk through sites where the early warning system is already running and seeing great success.

Great way to start the day! by @earthrangertech

A geofence is a line on the map tied to collared elephants. Cross it, and an alert reaches whoever is on duty, day or night via SMS, WhatsApp, or email.

That is half the work. The rest is years of hard work from our on the ground partners managing relationship and troves of data showing where crossings cluster, what worked, and importantly, what didn't.

SERCA Web and Mobile bring both together in the coming year through @joinserca

Telemetry collars use radio, GPS or satellite technology to track location data, movement patterns and behavioral cues. Tools like EarthRanger, built in part through years of collaboration between @earthrangertech, @joinserca and Panthera, turn that data into real conservation decisions. The demo footage in this video shows how.

A cluster of signals led our Chile team to a real puma den with newborn kittens. A proximity alert can warn teams before a lion reaches livestock. A geofence can notify a community when a collared animal crosses out of a protected area. Heat maps reveal how often animals visit certain sites, helping inform patrol plans. And immobility alerts can flag when an animal may need to be checked on — a cluster of lions, vultures and stopped signals, for example, can indicate a poisoning event.

EarthRanger helps researchers visualize movements, identify patterns and respond to potential threats. Better data leads to better conservation decisions — and a better future for wild cats.

One signal at a time, we're rewriting what's possible for wild cats. Visit the link in our bio to learn how.

This #WorldRangerDay, we want to introduce you to some of the people in our community. Meet @zeitzfoundation's Simon Nakito.

Simon learned the land from his grandfather, a ranger who patrolled this same Conservancy in the 1960s, reading the terrain and passing that knowledge down. Six years ago, Simon arrived as an intern. Today he leads wildlife monitoring, carrying his grandfather's craft into a new generation with new tools.

He remembers when two rhinos, Puppa and Karen, went missing for three days: "After many hours, we located them using wpsWatch. It showed how technology, combined with teamwork and persistence, can make a significant difference."

Rangers and conservationists like Simon and his grandfather are the DNA of everything we build.

Thank you, Simon, and rangers everywhere.

Since the 1990s, our elephant sightings data across the Amboseli ecosystem has been collected the same way: by hand, in notebooks, by dedicated scouts walking the landscape. Earlier this month, we took that legacy digital.

Our team brought together 23 scouts for a full day of training on EarthRanger, the technology now powering how we collect and map elephant sightings in real time. Each scout received a smartphone, a battery pack, and a sturdy new pair of shoes - the everyday tools they need to keep doing what they do best, only now with data appearing on our maps as it’s gathered, not weeks later.

EarthRanger let us build the digital forms to match the exact format and language our scouts already know. Nothing about how they record a sighting has to change - just how quickly that information reaches us. Our team will work together through this transition with ongoing support and further trainings in the months ahead.

This shift wouldn’t be possible without the George Binney Foundation, whose generous support is helping us protect both people and elephants across Amboseli. Ashe Oleng! by @earthrangertech
