A sneak peek at the new menu at @the_palfrey_derby

Think warming plates filled with delicious food with top quality ingredients. It’s pub grub meets sophistication.

For starters -
✨ ‘PFC’, Palfrey fried chicken, nori ranch, pineapple hot sauce, pickled celery (gf) £10

✨ Roast Potato & Vintage Cheddar Velouté, crispy onions & chives (v) (gfo) £8

The starters were my favourite course of the meal. We received the biggest piece of fried chicken and the velouté was cheese sauce heaven in a bowl.

For mains -
✨ Slow Braised Belly of Derbyshire Pork, hispi cabbage, three mustard mayonnaise, pickled mustard seeds, roscoff onion, jus (gf) £23

✨ Beer Battered Haddock & Triple Cooked Chips, crushed peas, ‘chip shop’ curry sauce & tartare sauce (gf) £18.50

The pork belly was delicious. We ordered en extra side of chips with this and we didn’t think the portion was very large. I appreciated the three dips that came with the fish and chips. I was not a fan of the triple cooked chips, I personally like them more crispy and well done!

For desserts -
✨ Blackberry Parfait, white chocolate cremeux, blackberry meringue, fresh blackberries, flapjack crumb (v) (gf) £10
✨ Sticky Toffee Pudding, salted caramel sauce, cornish clotted cream, Pedro Ximenez raisins (v) £9

The blackberry parfait was so beautifully presented, it looked too good to eat! Definitely a special dish to finish off a meal with. The sticky toffee pudding was always going to be a comforting winner!

Not only was the food lovely, the staff were really attentive and friendly. The cocktails on offer were 10/10 and made the whole experience even better.

Delicious. Amazing. Shall be returning.

We popped into @toastco_derby at Park Farm in Allestree. This new little cafe recently opened and I had to stop in and give it a try.

The aesthetic is gorgeous and the sweet treats, trendy drinks lists and packed sandwiches will be bringing me right back.

The perfect afternoon if you enjoy wine 🍷

We popped to the @englishwineproject recently to partake in their wine tour and tasting. Situated in Darley Abbey Mills, this independent wine maker offers a huge variety of wines.

During the tasting experience, we got to sample nine different wines. From sparkling wine to a cloudy white wine, from a rose wine to a red wine, the options covered all basis.

We were talked through the process of wine making, from the quality of the grapes, to the different techniques and machines that are used to create the wines.

It was a lovely way to spend a couple of hours on a sunny afternoon ☀️

✨ For those that want to grow their own vegetables but don’t know where to start! ✨

Start here with @pot.gang who do gardening boxes filled with everything you need to grow your own produce.

This month I have planted aubergine, cucumber and mint using their monthly subscription box.

The box included everything I needed. All of the pots, compost, seeds and instructions. All with funky packaging and cool designs.

I was invited down to @youwantbeefltd and honestly… I was not expecting it to be this good 😮‍💨🍔

We tried the chicken burger, triple cheese beef burger and the beef brisket burger, plus fully loaded chips, fully loaded mac and cheese, and Nashville hot chicken dippers with ranch.

Everything was delicious. I went in not expecting much and it completely blew me away.

My favourites were definitely the beef brisket burger and the mac and cheese 🤤 I’ll 100% be ordering from here again.

If you’re after a proper burger night, this one is worth trying 👏

📍Tenji in Derby is a newly opened Japanese restaurant offering sushi, ramen, donburi and many more traditional Japanese dishes.

I was invited down to try out their menu… this is now my favourite spot for Japanese food in Derby!

The staff were really friendly and the food was all cooked so well. The portions are all generous and the dishes are affordable.

We tried numerous plates of sushi, katsu chicken curry, chicken karaage, tempura prawns, pork donburi and salt and pepper chips. My top three favourites were the tempura prawns, chicken katsu curry and the Green Dragon sushi rolls.

It is tucked away on East Street in the city centre, so make sure you pop in next time you’re in the area. They also do takeaway if you want a cosy night on the sofa!

Your next girlie brunch spot is here! 🥂 ✨

📍 Located in Mickleover, Derby. This place is a cafe, bar, deli and restaurant all in one! They also have a lovely outdoor seating area.

I was invited down to try the new menu launching on 27 June at @brooksdeliandwines - I was pleasantly surprised 😮

We ordered all of their small plates to give them a try, think calamari, chicken skewers, hummus and pitta 🤤

I had to try the honey chorizo and Patatas Bravas as these are some firm favourites of mine usually.

Everything was super delicious and all these plates were cleared pretty quickly 😍

This place has great food, friendly staff, is well decorated, a great atmosphere and amazing cocktails!

As they are also a cafe and deli, it really caters for all preferences and occasions! Grab a to-go coffee and a pastry, add a few deli items to your shopping list for dinner or enjoy a girlie catch up over a few small plates and wine.

Fabulous little place and a great addition to Mickleover!

I had the absolute pleasure of attending Alice and Chris’ gorgeous wedding last month! As friends who met through our love of food blogging, I had to share it with you 😍😍

It was a wedding inspired by the couple’s travels around the world 🥹

From delicious tapas to thoughtful little details throughout the day (like a personalised Pokémon card!), the food was a perfect reflection of two people who share a love of travel, adventure and making memories together!

And how amazing is that tiramisu tower?!?!?

And another thing, I’ll literally never get over the fact that we met Alice and Chris through food blogging and now have a real life friendship where Matt and I got to celebrate their special day alongside them 🥹❤️. I feel very lucky 🫶 xx taken in The Kedleston Country House by @eatderbyshire

This new Korean restaurant and takeout is a game-changer for the food scene in Burton!

@tokki_uk invited me to come down and try out their food and I must say, it’s unbelievable ⭐️

I tried the milk tea, build your own bowl, a Korrito (Korean-burrito) and churros!

There are never ending options of how to personalise all of your food and drinks, I was spoilt for choice! Everything was top tier food, amazing flavours and the staff were super lovely! I will definitely be eating from here very often!

Milk teas we tried:
✨Iced Honeycomb Dream Cake made with black tea, with chocolate and banana popping boba
✨Iced Truffle Chocolate made with black tea, with chocolate and strawberry popping boba

Mains:
✨ Spicy chips, yakisoba noodles, pulled beef, hot honey chicken with Katsu curry sauce and Korean buttermilk sauce
✨ Korrito filled with noodles, egg fried rice, Korean BBQ pulled beef, grilled paneer with Teriyaki glaze and caramel

Dessert:
✨ Churros half and half topped with Oreo’s and Dubai chocolate kunafa taken in Burton upon Trent by @eatderbyshire
