I did something that feels a little vulnerable and a lot hopeful: I started a GoFundMe for Fork Yeah.

I’m a solo mother who has spent the last few years rebuilding from the ground up, while raising my son and trying to create something stable, meaningful and sustainable for our future.

Fork Yeah grew out of that rebuilding.

It’s a local prepared-meal business built around real food, real life and a simple belief that a meal can do more than feed one person. Through Eat One. Give One., the goal is to grow a business that also helps put nourishing food back into our community.

Fork Yeah is already in motion. I’m developing the meals, building the systems, working toward commercial kitchen growth, creating community partnerships, and doing everything I can to build this responsibly and sustainably.

This fundraiser will help with the infrastructure that happens behind the scenes: kitchen costs, equipment, refrigeration and storage, packaging, ingredients, licensing, insurance, and growing the give-back side of Fork Yeah.

If you’re able to donate, share, order, or simply tell someone about what I’m building, it genuinely helps.

I want my son to grow up seeing that hard chapters can become foundations for something beautiful, useful and bigger than us.

Good food. Stronger community.

Every Child Matters. 🧡

Today is a reminder that reconciliation asks more of us than remembrance. It asks us to listen, learn, honour Indigenous children, families, Survivors and communities, and consider how we can contribute in ways that are respectful and ongoing.

At Fork Yeah, food is one of the ways we know how to care for people. Through our Eat One • Give One model, we’re committed to keeping community care at the centre of what we build, while continuing to learn where that support can be most meaningful.

🧡 Listen to Indigenous voices.
🧡 Learn the history.
🧡 Support Indigenous-led organizations and businesses.
🧡 Carry the responsibility beyond September 30.

Judgment is not care. You never know someone’s story. 💛

This World Mental Health Day, we’re looking beyond “just think positive” and asking deeper questions. What support can someone actually access? Do they have somewhere safe to live? Are they being heard, or judged before their circumstances are understood?

Mental health is shaped by more than mindset. Violence, poverty and inequality can increase risk, while connection and accessible support can help protect wellbeing. Conversations about homelessness must include housing, continuity of care and the systems people rely on, not simply assumptions about individual choices.

As someone who has experienced coercive control and abuse for most of my life, this is deeply personal. You cannot always see what someone has survived, what they are still navigating, or how much effort it takes to get through the day. Nobody should have to tell their most painful story to deserve dignity.

Compassionate care means listening without demanding details, respecting boundaries, offering choices and asking, “What would feel helpful?” Staying curious also means checking our sources and being willing to rethink what we thought we knew.

At Fork Yeah, we believe nourishment and dignity belong together. Our community giveback partner, Lighthouse Recovery From Starvation Society, offers a practical way to show up for our unhoused neighbours through meals, essentials and human connection.

Want to get involved?

Volunteer your time, donate food or supplies, contribute funds, or help with outreach transportation.

Contact Faron at 778-215-1074 or l.r.f.soutreach@gmail.com.

Stay curious. Stay learning. Stay compassionate.

Sources are identified throughout the carousel: WHO, Public Health Agency of Canada, Justice Canada, and the 2025 AMO housing and homelessness report. The historical discussion is attributed to Blacklock’s Reporter, October 5, 2026, as referenced in the Ryan Williams post. The cabinet records were not independently reviewed here; the funding figures refer specifically to Ontario.

These are the Glory Days. 🌱🍴

Crispy golden tofu, roasted beets, brown rice + fresh veggies, drizzled with golden tahini dressing. Finished with almonds, pickled red onion + hemp hearts for that extra crunch.

Keep it plant based or add chicken, steak, salmon or shrimp. 🙌

One less thing on your forking plate. One more reason to feel good about dinner.

CONTENT NOTE: SUICIDE

If you or someone you know needs support, call or text 9-8-8 anywhere in Canada, 24/7. If there is immediate danger, call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency department.

This September, we want to say something more useful than “reach out.”

Because sometimes the people who need care most are the least able to ask for it.

Pain does not always look like pain. Someone can work, parent, laugh, cook, answer messages and take care of everyone around them while privately struggling to survive.

Suicide awareness asks more from all of us.

It asks us to notice changes.
To reach in.
To ask directly.
To listen without judgement.
To help someone take the next safe step without demanding they solve their whole life tonight.

You do not need perfect words. You can begin with:

“I’ve noticed you haven’t seemed like yourself. You don’t have to explain everything. I’m here.”

Or:

“Are you thinking about suicide?”

And if you are the one trying to survive, you can send this:

“I am not safe being alone right now. Please stay with me and help me call 9-8-8.”

At Fork Yeah, “stronger community” is more than a tagline. Care can look like a crisis line, a meal, childcare, a ride, help making an appointment or someone checking in again tomorrow.

Nobody should have to reach a breaking point to prove they deserve care.

Save this post. Share the resources. Check on the person who has gone quiet—and the person who appears to be carrying everything beautifully.

The next safe step is enough.

Good food. Stronger community.
