What a full circle moment to be back in the AUC working with #FallofFreedom and directing four pieces with Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre and Spelman College!

What happens when 30 AUC students, Atlanta Black femme directors, and the words of 37 extraordinary Black female playwrights come together on one stage?

UNDERSIEGE.

Curated by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and acclaimed playwright Dominique Morisseau, UNDERSIEGE is a collective work of literary resistance told through monologues, scenes, and songs exploring the power, complexity, and humanity of Black womanhood.

@truecolorstheatre and the Spelman College Department of Theatre and Performance @spelmantheatre invite you to witness this remarkable collaboration between emerging AUC artists and professional Atlanta directors.

Friday, October 2, 2026
2:30 p.m.
Baldwin Burroughs Theatre at Spelman College

Free and open to the public.

Come bear witness. Come celebrate these voices. Come experience UNDERSIEGE.

I had such a wonderful time working with this company!! Thank you for being beautiful putty in my hands 🤲🏾

When I first began training as a dancer, eventhough I loved it, I always knew I wanted to be a choreographer way more than I wanted to dance!

I wanted to see my vision embodied by dancers that were ten times better than me!

I can’t wait to do it all over again!!

Also, I’m a huge fan of the original MATILDA 📏 so getting to do choreography for this musical was an honor!

Thank you @ActUp 🎭

It’s been one month since I performed… 𝙙𝙤 𝙬𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙁𝙄𝙉𝙀: 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙤 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙’𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙨𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧.

This show was more than a performance, it was an uncovering. A reckoning.

After being removed from my MFA program at The University of Connecticut, barred from my core classes, denied access to main stage productions, and coerced into an alternate degree, I was told I had to do a ONE WOMAN SHOW in order to graduate. So I made one… about exactly what was happening to me, and what has happened to so many others!

In 60 days, I wrote, directed, and performed a solo show blending original poetry, music, and satirical vignettes to confront the systemic barriers Black student artists face in Fine Arts programs.

It was a space for truth-telling, healing, and collective empowerment!

To my family and best friend who flew in from LA to support me! Thank you!! To my small but mighty team, thank you for standing in the fire with me. To my mentors, volunteers, and the real ones who poured into me when I needed you most, thank you for hearing my heart and for helping me turn pain into power!
