POSTS STORIES REELS

I’m featured in this week’s @closeronline (17th–23rd October), sharing mine and my baby’s story, alongside my campaign, @mychoicewastaken.

My hope is that by sharing our story, we can raise awareness, protect women and children through better education, and help ensure perpetrators are held accountable for this form of abuse. No one should have to experience what we did, and survivors deserve to have their experiences recognised and taken seriously by authorities.

Also huge thank you to @msichoices, @katrina_mcd and @goodlawproject for helping to highlight why reproductive coercion needs to be recognised as a standalone criminal offence, and to Lena for putting together such a thoughtful & powerful piece.

After months of believing she and Matthew were planning a family together, Liv discovered—at six months pregnant—that he had two other long-term partners and a child. “I thought the only way out, to stop the pain, would be suicide,” she says.

Liv’s story is one of two in our new feature on reproductive coercion: when someone tries to control another person’s choices about pregnancy or reproductive care. Ebony says her partner pressured and threatened her into having an abortion. Neither man has been charged with a crime.

Now, both women are speaking out and campaigning for reproductive coercion to be recognised as a standalone offence. Read their stories, and why they believe the law needs to change, at the link in bio. by @ebskeeley

I’m a (semi) retired party girl these days, so Halloween looks a little different for me this year 🖤

But no matter how you choose to celebrate Halloween, one thing will never change: what you wear is never an invitation for someone to touch you without your consent. Whether your costume is revealing, you’re showing skin or you’re dressed up for the occasion, costumes do not equal consent. Your body, your boundaries, your choice. Always.

Walking home alone after a Halloween party? @strutsafe is available to keep you company. You can call and speak to a volunteer who’ll stay on the phone with you until you’re safely home or back at your uni accommodation.

Look out for each other this Halloween. No outfit, drink, dance or decision gives anyone the right to violate your boundaries. Everyone deserves to feel safe, whatever they’re wearing and wherever they’re going.

Yesterday, I was invited to Westminster to join @makeitmandatory and @killedwomennw to support their campaign to make Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) mandatory up to the age of 18, alongside the launch of The Unofficial Curriculum, a mock textbook revealing what young people are being taught by the internet when schools aren’t giving them the tools to navigate it.

As a survivor, advocate and campaigner, I know how important education is in preventing abuse, recognising unhealthy relationships and empowering young people to understand what is and isn’t acceptable. Education is protection, and young people deserve to be equipped with the knowledge to keep themselves and others safe.

On 4th December, MPs will debate the Relationships and Sex Education (Further Education) Bill. This is an opportunity to help create safer futures for the next generation.

Email your MP and ask them to back the Bill. We cannot afford to leave young people without the education they need 💜

Although this isn’t something I’m personally sharing from my own experience, my love for animals and hearing other survivors’ stories about their pets being abused has made me realise just how important it is that we have these conversations 👏🏼

Pets can also be victims of domestic abuse. They can be harmed, threatened or used as a tool of coercive control to frighten survivors, maintain power and make leaving an abusive relationship even harder.

No survivor should have to choose between their own safety and the animals they love. We need greater awareness, better support and safe options for survivors escaping abuse with their pets.

I also wanted to highlight the incredible charities working to protect animals and support survivors, including @dogstrust, @catsprotection, @rspca_official and @refuge4pets_ 💜

When a young person looks to us for guidance, they trust us to help them navigate the world safely.

Not just when they’re children.
Not just when it’s easy.
Always.

We can’t protect young people from every challenge they’ll face. But we can make sure they’re equipped with the knowledge and confidence to recognise healthy relationships, understand consent, and make informed choices. Because caring for young people isn’t just about keeping them safe today.
It’s about preparing them for tomorrow through prevention.

And every adult who cares about their future has a role to play in making that happen.

💙 Join us in calling for change. Because the responsibility to protect young people doesn’t end at the school gates, it starts with RSE to 18.

Nobody talks about how much grief and loss comes after an abusive relationship.

You grieve the time you lost, the life you could’ve had, the person you were before it, and everything that was taken from you 🤍

Brb, I’m putting the world to rights x by @ebskeeley

“Why didn’t you just report it?”

I did.

I reported being forced into a surgical abortion at 4 months pregnant, and it was described to me as a “disagreement with strong emotions” and a “difference in opinions.”

I reported domestic abuse, yet instead of focusing on the evidence and what I had experienced, a passing comment I made about describing myself as “mute” as a child was used to question my credibility, despite me never claiming to have a formal diagnosis of mutism.

I reported hacking attempts, and despite a login location that was consistent with where my abuser resides, I was told it “could be anyone.. it’s a big area”.

These are just some of my experiences after doing exactly what survivors are told to do: report.

So when people ask survivors, “Why didn’t you go to the police?”, sometimes the better question is:

What happens when we do?

Reporting abuse should not mean having to repeatedly prove that you are credible enough, traumatised enough or “perfect” enough to deserve to be believed.

Survivors deserve to be heard. Evidence deserves to be properly investigated. Abuse deserves to be taken seriously.

Because the problem isn’t always that survivors don’t report.

Sometimes, the problem is what happens after they do.

The petition is LIVE on @change.org_uk 🚨

@mychoicewastaken is campaigning to make reproductive coercion a standalone criminal offence in the UK. We need your support to help push for legal change, greater protection for victims and accountability for perpetrators.

Here’s how you can help us make a difference:

✍🏼 SIGN the petition on @change.org_uk to show your support.

📲 SHARE the petition with your friends, family and followers. The more people who hear about reproductive coercion, the harder it becomes to ignore.

📩 WRITE TO YOUR LOCAL MP asking them to support our campaign and push for reproductive coercion to be recognised as a standalone criminal offence. Ask them to raise the issue in Parliament and explain what action they will take.

🗣️ RAISE AWARENESS by talking about reproductive coercion, sharing social media posts and helping others understand what it is and how it affects victims.

💗 FOLLOW @mychoicewastaken and help to grow a community that refuses to let reproductive coercion go unrecognised.

This is about more than a petition. It’s about changing the law, protecting future victims and ensuring that reproductive abuse is taken seriously.

Our reproductive choices should never be taken from us without consequence.

Sign. Share. Speak up. Help to make change happen.

WOW. 🤍

My story, @nervomusic story and the campaign, My Choice Was Taken, are now featured in @cosmopolitanuk

If you told me two years ago, after losing my baby, when I had completely lost hope and didn’t want to be here anymore, that I would one day be leading a campaign calling for reproductive coercion to become a standalone criminal offence in the UK, I genuinely wouldn’t have believed you.

The grief, shame, victim blaming and misunderstanding surrounding what happened to me completely broke me.

And somehow, almost two years later, I’m being given opportunities to share my baby’s story, speak on platforms I never imagined I’d reach, and turn what happened to me into a call for change.

To now have my story and Liv’s story shared together, showing that reproductive coercion is not an isolated experience, is incredibly powerful.

I’m honestly still in shock.

I’m so grateful to everyone who has believed me, shared my story, given me a platform, and especially those who carried pain that wasn’t even theirs to carry when I couldn’t carry it myself.

Reproductive coercion has existed for generations. So many women have lived their lives carrying guilt, blame and shame for experiences that were never their fault.

This campaign is for the women experiencing it right now who don’t even have the words to understand what is happening to them.

And for the many babies whose lives have been lost through it.

For all children & babies. For survivors. For change. 🤍
