Queen should never have worked. Four songwriters, no rules — and one voice that changed rock forever. Bohemian Rhapsody spent nine weeks at No.1 in the UK. At Live Aid 1985, they took over Wembley in 20 minutes.

Freddie Mercury kept his HIV diagnosis private in 1987; his last concert with Queen had already been Knebworth in August 1986. He confirmed his illness on 23 November 1991 and died the next day, aged 45. Follow for more rock history.

Rammstein came from East Germany and turned a language most of the world doesn’t speak into a global stadium language.

From the air-base tragedy that gave them their name, to Herzeleid, Du Hast, the fire shows, the bans, the silence, and the return with Deutschland — this is how six musicians built one of the most uncompromising live machines in modern rock history.

Pink Floyd created some of the greatest albums in rock history. But behind the music, the band was slowly tearing itself apart.

From Syd Barrett’s collapse to Roger Waters taking control, the making of The Wall, the legal fight over the name, and a final reunion that came too late — this is the story of a group that conquered the world while destroying itself from the inside.

The Rolling Stones became the longest-running rock band on Earth — but the man who started it all didn’t survive the rise. Brian Jones founded the group, chose the name, and led it in the beginning.

Then the songwriting power shifted to Jagger and Richards, the excess closed in, and by 1969 the band’s own founder was out. A month later, he was found dead in his swimming pool at 27. This is the darker origin story behind the machine that never broke up — and the price paid before the legend fully began.

The History of Black Sabbath

Heavy metal began in a Birmingham factory town — and with a ruined hand. Tony Iommi lost the tips of two fingers in a sheet metal accident, forced himself to keep playing, and helped create a sound darker and heavier than anything before it.

From four working-class kids to the birth of a genre, the rise, the excess, the split, and the final return home. The band that invented heavy metal closed the circle in the same city where it started.

Led Zeppelin became the biggest band on Earth — then tragedy after tragedy brought it all down.
A serious car accident, the death of Robert Plant’s young son, cancelled tours, and finally the night John Bonham died at just 32.

To the remaining members he was irreplaceable. No new drummer. No long farewell.
This is how one of the greatest rock bands in history reached a point where continuing was simply no longer possible.

The Metallica Story

Fired a guitarist. Lost a bassist at 24. Faced rehab, fights and therapy. Metallica should have ended more than once, and yet they became the biggest metal band on the planet.

From a 1981 newspaper ad in Los Angeles to a legendary show in Moscow, this is the story of how they got back up, louder every time.
