What if aviation's fuel problem could help solve a waste problem? ✈️

New technology is demonstrating a way to turn landfill gases and captured CO₂ into synthetic aviation fuel.

It's still at demonstration scale — but the principle could become an important part of aviation's decarbonisation toolkit.

The future of flying might involve making fuel from things we currently throw away.

Solar power has become ridiculously cheap. ☀️
But here's the interesting part: the challenge is increasingly shifting from producing solar electricity to storing it, moving it and using it when we actually need it.
So what happens when the sun goes down? 🔋⚡
Is cheap solar only the beginning?

Thanks to the @fullychargedshow for the chance to experience the awesome #everythingelectriclondon this weekend.

The event is filled with loads of electric cars, including several new car launches and test drives galore, green home technology and micro mobility, as well as play areas for kids and families.

Everyone I met was passionate, knowledgeable and excited about this huge transition to sustainability that we're on. I'm confident the momentum is too high for this movement to be stopped!!! 💚♻️🌍🚘🔋⚡🔌

The golden orb spider, native to Costa Rica produce the largest and strongest webs. Their silk is five times stronger than steel and more flexible than nylon.

In addition to Costa Rica, these super spiders are found around the world: Africa, India, China, Japan, Southeast Asia, and Northern Australia.

Populations in the South Pacific Islands have used the webs to make fishing lures and traps. And in Southeast Asia, people have used them as nets.

If mass produced, this silk could make bullet proof vests, lighter and stronger seat belts and clothing, solar sails, space telescopes, suspension cables, ropes, parachutes and artificial ligament scaffolding.

Noni (or Morinda citrifolia), is a tropical tree known for it's distinctive fruit which smell like blue cheese 🧀!

Commonly used in Polynesian and tropical traditional medicine, a review of published human intervention studies suggests that noni juice may provide protection against tobacco smoke-induced DNA damage, blood lipid and homocysteine elevation as well as systemic inflammation.

Studies also indicate that noni juice may improve joint health, increase physical endurance, increase immune activity, inhibit glycation of proteins, aid weight management, help maintain bone health in women, help maintain normal blood pressure, and improve gum health.

Further, these studies point to notable antioxidant activity in noni juice, more so than other fruit juices.

Would you put up with that blue cheese smell, to get some of those benefits??

Tadelakt is a traditional waterproofed Moroccan type of lime plaster - which is a natural alternative to Portland cement. These beautiful examples show how it can be used for their bathrooms and toilet buildings.

It is made by adding soap - traditionally olive oil soap, to the lime plaster process which waterproofs the lime plaster, perfect for the shower cubicles here!

How stunning are these examples from @ranchomastatal ?
