🚨 From Limoges to Milan, Europe has once again witnessed unacceptable scenes of violence, vandalism and attacks on police officers.

Peaceful protest is a democratic right. Violence is not.

There can be no justification for attacking police officers, destroying public property or bringing violence to our streets.

While others hesitate to condemn these acts, we are clear: law and order must be upheld.

Our mayors are on the front line. Our police officers deserve our full support. And European citizens must feel safe in their streets and communities.

- Support our police
- Stand with our mayors
- Make vandals pay for the damage they cause
- Tough consequences for those who attack our police
- Return foreign offenders who have no right to remain
- Defend law and order by @ecr.cor

📍A busy week at #EURegionsWeek and the Committee of the Regions.
We kicked things off at the #EURegionsWeek opening ceremony, where ECR President Marco Marsilio joined @raffaelefitto and António Costa to make the case for a strong cohesion policy and a stronger role for regions.
At our ECR workshop, we discussed how Europe’s transport policy can improve connectivity, support competitiveness and work for regions that are too often left behind.
The highlight of the week came in plenary with the adoption of @marco_marsilio ’s opinion on Europe’s future transport system. The message was clear: there can be no Right to Stay without a Right to Move. People should be free to leave for study or work, but no one should be forced to leave their region because of poor connections, weak infrastructure, or a lack of opportunities.
Our members engaged in debates and voted on opinions ranging from automotive, European capitals of culture, anti-terrorism and Industrial Accelerator Act.
We wrapped up the week at yesterday’s joint COTER-REGI meeting with Executive Vice-President Raffaele Fitto, where ECR 1st Vice-President @wladyslawortyl underlined the importance of keeping cohesion policy at the heart of the next EU budget and of making the Right to Stay a reality across Europe’s regions. taken in European Committee of the Regions by @ecr.cor

Mayor of L’Aquila @pierluigi_biondi has been recently appointed rapporteur of the European Capital of Culture initiative. Early this month, he welcomed the news from the ECON External Commission meeting in Galway, Ireland, a city that breathes rugby 🏉as much as L’Aquila. The meeting took place in the local stadium 🏟️ and Biondi reflects on how his experience of mayor of the Italian Capital of Culture will serve him in his role as rapporteur by @ecr.cor

Nel reel spiego perché 📹 taken in Bruxelles, Belgium by @ecr.cor

Il diritto di muoversi, la possibilità di restare.

Da Bruxelles vi racconto il nostro lavoro per collegare le grandi reti ferroviarie alle aree interne e promuovere trasporti più sostenibili, rispettando le esigenze dei territori.
