Happy pub day to @theresa_writer for her courageous and tender novel, DOG DAYS OF PLANET EARTH, which was such a pleasure to work on. Though set in the 1950s and 1980s, it explores many hot button issues that are (unfortunately) still relevant today. When laws and conventions are wrong, it asks, does being good mean being defiant? And if that’s the case, what are we willing to risk to do what’s right?

It’s all grounded, though, in something simple: the love of a good dog. The protagonist notes, “As long as I have a dog at the end of my outstretched hand, I will be okay.”

Booklist gave it a starred review, saying, “Shea’s page-turning prose and loveable, curious, and kind protagonist keep the heart at the center of this tragically gorgeous novel.”
