Capturing people’s faces for my favourite song: I Am.
Family, friends, work colleagues and random chance happenings have completely brought it to life,
I am so grateful for that!

Aphrodite
“At the time, I was reading The End Of Patriarchy, by Robert Jensen and had also been
reflecting on how powerful female deities of the past were gradually replaced by male gods. The
rise of feminism was also an inspiration here. I was very proud of the opening verse, and so
wrote a few more and this is where we ended up.
”Why Aphrodite? Why this image?
Richardson’s attack on Velázquez’s Rokeby Venus can be read in dialogue with the more complex history of Aphrodite: although erotic desire was always central to her divinity, it was also a source of agency and influence rather than simply passive beauty. Richardson’s act therefore disrupted a later visual tradition in which Venus could be reduced to an idealised female body for contemplation, reclaiming the image as a site through which female agency, rather than merely female desirability, could be asserted. #nomeansno by @edddonovan
