At a recent symposium in London, I provided a deep dive into how skyrocketing data centre power demand is reshaping the global energy landscape.

The discussion centered on building a resilient AI future through sustainable supply chains, specialized workforce development, and green economic frameworks. It was a vital exploration of how to scale critical infrastructure without compromising national net-zero commitments

I got a lot of warm messages today and I can’t help but reflect on how the idea for what is now called @energyz_black started. I had to dig into my gallery.

This is me and my good friend, Ken, at a networking event organised by Tech Nation 16/10/2023. At the time, I was co-building a startup called AirGo, and Ken was building Onion (please don’t ask us what happened to the startups 😅).

A lady walked up to us and introduced herself as the founder of a Black community in tech. And just like that - a light bulb moment 💡
Why don’t we have this in Energy? A question I asked myself all night till the next day.

I thought about all the challenges I’d faced in the sector and realised something had to change. We didn’t just need representation — we needed community.

I pitched the idea to @jesusoorefunmi, when he came for Solar and Battery Storage event in Brum, and right there, Energyz Black was born. Well, this was not the initial name (please don’t ask me too 😩)

It’s incredible to see what we’ve together built in just 2 years. There have been plenty of challenges along the way — stories we’ll hopefully tell someday - but the impact has made it all worth it. 1000+ students and professionals impacted.

Thanks to our amazing volunteers, partners, advisors and community. Cheers to 2…. many more to come 🥂

Picture 2 was when I first physically met @_loide, having been introduced to her by @jesusoorefunmi some weeks before (then we had a Steering Committee. Loool).

Picture 3 was when we tried registering EB for the first time, but failed.

Picture 4, yes you guessed right - showing up even when you are extremely exhausted and don’t feel like it
