Bespoke console table designed and produced for @friendly.pressure and the @spotify HQ Listening Lounge.

Solid 2200mm x 1250mm x 50mm Aluminium table top with lightening cut underside and bullnosed front lip. Hand polished to final satin finish.

London-based designer and fabricator @eddieolin's work celebrates the aesthetic value of engineering processes, and in the five years since launching his eponymous studio, his practice has become synonymous with pieces that balance heavy metal with a sense of playfulness and visual lightness.

His work brings often overlooked engineering processes and techniques into the spotlight, drawing attention to precisely machined elements typically hidden from view and using them to create furniture with precise, clean forms and angles that hint at his background in typography. Olin prefers not to overanalyse aesthetic choices, instead focusing on making what he finds interesting.

Although his pieces are made in Manchester at a private engineering workshop, where keeping heavy industrial equipment is more financially realistic, his studio is based in London. With no grand masterplan or tick list of goals, Olin is content to let his practice grow organically, observing how the scale of projects continues to increase, from vases to hospitality and retail interiors.

Some of the process of making my “Hard Edge” table and bench collection for @ercol_uk and @maxradfordgallery

The solid timber construction was produced by the master craftsman at @ercol_uk and the stainless steel accent corners produced by me

First piece I have ever designed in wood - had to sneak some metalwork in there somewhere

x10 table lights made for @kricketlondon

Mild steel construction, rolled and TIG welded cylindrical lampshades with custom cut perforated pattern, TIG welded lamp stands, custom turned bulb housings fitted into top of lamp stands - all finished in matte powder coat

I made a custom machined jig to hold the lampshade supporting arms at perfect 120° intersections. Ends of supporting arms were all tapped so button top screws could be used to nip everything together after paint

New lighting completed for @kricketlondon Shoreditch space

Matching set of three 3 metre long pendent lights. Mild steel construction, powder coated finish

The perforated pattern was custom sized and laser cut into the steel prior to bending. The same spaced pattern was also used on 10 table lights spread along the front of the dining area which I will share next

Also produced for the space was a series of cable hung XL Aluminium frames with textile panels set inside

Cast stainless steel

(watertight construction)

Available in 5 sizes

Produced from cast stainless steel, each piece is individually polished back to expose a contrasting two-tone pattern. Rough casting against highly polished stainless steel. Every vase produced is completely unique.

The patterns reflect the imperfect casting process, where a true concentric form is impossible to achieve. The polishing technique burnishes away any high points of the imperfect form, bringing that area down and revealing the glow of stainless steel hidden under the rough cast skin.
