Hi, I’m 𝗠𝗮𝘆! I live in the inner west of Sydney with Eden, my partner Ben & our cat @olivia.rescuecat.

I’m a 𝘃𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗻𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 with over a decade’s experience. I worked in general practice for the majority of my career and now work in specialty dentistry.

My special interest is actually in 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝗿 & 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 - you may not think dentistry and behaviour have much in common but you’d be surprised! I love that my nursing background gives me a whole-picture approach, as pain and other health issues have such a large impact on how our dogs feel and behave.

I’m a massive advocate for 𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 ‘𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝘆’. Raising awareness about poor breeding practices and the issues surrounding designer mix breed dogs is super important to me. I see the impact that behaviour and health issues have on poorly bred dogs & designer mix breeds in clinic all the time, both in GP & in specialty.

𝗜 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲-𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 and getting to know the ‘you’ behind the accounts. I’m not here to chase numbers, so if that’s what you’re in it for, I’m not the account for you! I’m much more focused on building genuine connections & finding a community 🫶

Barking. Lunging. Snapping. Crashing out around dogs. That can be part of our life too (and a tiny one may I add!) - I’m showing you what the rest is like.

I’ve had someone say that I must never have dealt with a reactive dog in my life.

Meant as an insult, taken as a compliment; a huge testament to our training & management & the fact our whole lives don’t revolve around her reactivity.

📍Lower North Shore
🥾 14.2km | Moderate Grade
🅿️ Park at the end of Sugarloaf Crescent, where the trail starts

🌿𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀
⚠️ Ticks in summer, leeches when damp & rainy

A gorgeous hike with beautiful views that you can split into parts if the 14.2km out and back is a little too long! I recommend doing this one during the cold, dry months to avoid ticks & leeches.

𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🧍You will see other people traverse this hike, we found the first 2-3km very busy, but the rest of the trail quieter.
🐕 There were occasional dogs on this trail, but dogs must be on lead and most were respectful. Be aware that the trail is narrow at times so it can be difficult to create space so you may need to go aside, off trail.

‣ 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝘆𝗽𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗮 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗽
📍Hills District
🥾 7.2km | Moderate Grade
🅿️ Excelsior Avenue, closest to the Eric Mobbs Reserve

🌿𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀
⚠️ Parts of this walk may be in a sewage overflow area, so I do not recommend you let your dogs drink or swim in the water.

We loved this hike although it can be confusing trying to follow the trails (there are a few overlapping trails!) It feels so bushy, remote and dense and is just a lovely bushwalk to get back into nature. Again, DO NOT recommend letting your dogs in the water. We ended up having to wash 4 dogs in a Petbarn afterwards …

𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🧍You will see other people traverse this hike. Weirdly when we did this, there were a lot of people that were scared of dogs - which I guess was good, as they all pulled up to let the dogs pass.
🐕 We didn’t encounter any other dogs on this trail when we did it, but we do know it’s one of the more popular trails.

An absolutely gorgeous hike - start this by parking your car at the Mt Piddington Lookout Car Park & following the AllTrails map.

It is a beautiful track with a varied terrain and gorgeous views. Be warned that the last km or so is a decent ascent, but a great workout!

After your hike, head 8 minutes down the road to have some lunch at the 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗜𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗵𝗼𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗹 in Blackheath.

An Asian-fusion cafe serving the most delicious brunch food. The crab pasta was a stand out for me!

They are dog friendly with dog friendly seating outdoors, and in an undercover area just outside of the cafe.

No month is complete without visiting @thedogfoodtruck, our newest obsession. Not only are the pupcups divine, we always stop by to buy some of their healthy artisan dog treats for home!

A local gem and the perfect place to spice up our neighbourhood walks, we love stopping by @dogge_official for a treat!

One of our favourite local pubs, it is the perfect place for a spot of lunch or dinner in the lovely little courtyard. They are very dog friendly & sometimes even hand out treats!

A gorgeous loop track we have done a few times but keep going back for more! The damp Sydney weather hasn’t been pleasant to do more bushy tracks (leeches!) but this is one of the best ones to avoid them.

Lots of places to go for a swim & beautiful opportunities for a photo.

‣ 𝗠𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 | @moes_table  A gorgeous cafe serving up the most delicious brunch with a Middle Eastern flair. Their Berry French Toast is a must try.

There is outdoor seating friendly for pups, but it is street-side so be aware of passing dogs if that’s something your dog might struggle with. I would recommend coming here off-peak!

‣ 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗳𝗲 | @postcafe_marrickville
Set inside an old post office building, it also has its own generous outdoor seating for pups.

Could not go past the pancakes - the menu has both an Australian and Mediterranean flair.

‣ 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 | @sandwhichsydney  The Chicken Nanban sandwich is exactly what everyone says it is - amazing. The Coconut Cloud matcha was the perfect accompaniment.

There is seating outside, though it is limited and the cafe can get quite busy.

‣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗳𝗲 | @thecounterpetersham
Serving an impressive range of sandwiches and melts, I adored the Brooklyn Pastrami burger. Their drinks are a highlight - I loved my Chai-Matcha latte.

It has both street-side seating as well as its own elevated area set away.

Well worth the current hype - avoid a long line up by going on a weekday!

‣ 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗳 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸 (1𝗸𝗺) A beautiful new suspended walkway offering gorgeous coastal views! You can access this as an extension of the Cronulla Foreshore walk, or access directly from within Hungry Point Reserve.

Absolutely incredible (human!) food & also offers a deluxe puppacino for dogs! The most bougie serve ever - foamed milk, peanut butter, doggy biscuit & liver sprinkles.

An easy, well maintained paved walk in the Rockdale area of Sydney!

‣ 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗽 (7.1𝗸𝗺)
A peaceful bushwalk located in the Sutherland Shire region of Sydney. It was a gorgeous walk offering serene bushland and even some views along the creek! It starts off as a lovely wide fire trail before diverging into a bushland track which we really enjoyed.

Our usual group obedience class that we have attended since Eden was 7 months old & which I can credit to a lot of her good behaviours! We have been alternating classes this year as we have also been doing sport classes so this is the first obedience class this year. It really highlights the things we need to work on (and the things I avoid if I wasn’t doing obedience). I highly recommend ongoing group life skills/obedience!

A dual cafe and grooming salon! Serving up both puppaccinos and treats for dogs & pastries, coffees and matcha for the humans.

‣ 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝘁𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗼𝗿 (10𝗸𝗺)

This trail links Barton Park through to Scarborough Park, a newly refreshed walkway featuring boardwalks and bridges. You can keep on walking and walking but we usually do about 5kms & turn back.

We took the lovely Maisy along with us for this trail!

‣ 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗽 (7.1𝗸𝗺)

A moderate bushwalk found in the Sutherland Shire region of Sydney. It was lovely and peaceful & we basically had the trail all to ourselves!
