I have tried to type this a thousand times and somehow almost 3 months later, I still don’t have the words to fully describe the magnitude of loss that this has been and will continue to be to us and everyone who was lucky enough to know Jake. And maybe writing this makes it real that he’s actually gone, so that’s why I have avoided it. But today is his birthday, and that was my deadline to force myself to do it for him, so I’m going to do my best.

Since I was 11 years old when he walked into my life, he showed up for me. Every single time, for every single thing, he was there. From packing me and my things up from an awful exes house to driving my sister and I home after losing our (really my sisters) horse to being my balloon tie-er for approx 18473974 ballon arches over the years. I can’t even remember a time without him, and it breaks my heart to think of all the things he won’t be there for now, and how nothing will ever feel the same because he’s just, gone. Somehow the world didn’t stop turning even though it feels like ours did.

Disney on film (in November) for our boys 4th bday. I know it’s less exciting looking at his sweet, happy face covered but they are still the best memories I want to document.

Happy Birthday to my sis. We couldn’t be more polar opposites, she’s the tough to my sensitive, the quiet to my loud, and the go with the flow to my plan everything to a T but I couldn’t love her any more.
